BMW Engineering at its finest

So I realize BMW is known for its driving experience and no so much for the coffee holder design. I have 4 coffee mugs and neither of them fit the BMW holder super well and I have spilled 3 times now. So, my wife buys me a BMW Coffee mug from the dealer thinking surely this will fit. BMW engineering at it's finest! Am I over-reacting or does the marketing manager need to find a new job. (2011 335I) Im actually pretty jacked up about this

IF THE CUP DONT FIT, YOU MUST ACQUIT.

Damn you Colin Chapman.

If it's any consolation OP, Jag did the same thing. Drivers side cupholder would fit a red bull....barely.

Yep, just open the cup holder, and break it off, then practice holding your hot coffee between your legs, because they are only good for about 4-5 uses, then they will no longer work anyhow. The germans sure know how to over engineer something simple.

This is strictly a BMW engineering issue. All my DIN-spec European coffee mugs fit securely in the cup holders of all my Audi's...

The monkey motion and 76 individual parts for the Mercedes 300e cupholder has them beat. Personally I hate all of them but have to compromise to keep all happy. Fricken' spills on the burled walnut, drips INTO the console where you CANNOT clean it.

The only thing that would make it more german is to introduce the Mercedes feature of putting sensitive electronics directly underneath said cupholder. That would be awesome.

I believe it's the W210 that gets freaked out when you spill coffee on it...

BMW Engineering at its finest

You clearly need to bring this problem to your local BMW Center whereupon your vehicle will be upgraded to a newer model. Oh and it'll cost you about $65,000.

Only in a German car would spilling your coffee cost you a new transmission ECU......
