Not much. Fla. is a terrible place to buy a car, especially a really old one like this. The humidity makes for crap cars, generally speaking. The color could not be duller or more "German Ford Taurus", IMO. But someone liked it, they sold them. The seats in these cars should never need re-upholstering at 70k miles, I see them with 150-200k still looking good.

Something does not add up. But the bottom line is that a lot less than $6k gets you a choice of many with no stories from original owners, records, etc. I'm helping a broke pal buy one right now for about $2k, it's a nice car with 160k miles. They're cheap. The wagons are slightly more but still cheap.

They are well made cars but it doesn't get any duller than a w124, IMO. They are the Volvo 240 of MB cars. Sorry if this is harsh but you wanted my opinion.

Of course not, I did both rotors, Balo's are sold in pairs, but only timed myself on one.

I love the huge F&R rotors on this car.

I agree on something doesn't add up in terms of the interior but that is the least of my concerns about this car. I think your comment only applies to the MBTex, which is bulletproof (at 150K on my car, the interior is still close to new), the leather wears like any other leather and I look at E320s on CL a few times a week. Car fax is squeaky clean but I've heard that doesn't mean too much. The car spent it's life in PA up until 2012 with 2 owners, then NJ for a year then down to FL.

Color is color, whatever my grandfather likes, I don't care.

I checked out LA CL and for a similar car you'd have to spend at least $4K and none I saw were as nice as this one or the ones in Jersey and PA, though I'm sure with time and more scouting, one would come up. Low mileage, excellent E320s are still selling at a premium.

Thank you Robert, much appreciated! I'll follow up on the white car but would have to take the tint off I'm sure.

Got the records (limited) for the car in FL and I am always amazed at how fast people dump money into cars. 2013 it had a major rear brake overhaul at $1359, $728 of that was labor.

Mercedes seems to use high quality leather, I've seen many older cars with real leather that look nearly new. My C36 was over ten years old and had almost 100k on it (with minimal care) and the leather still looked new.

Don't put much stock in the Carfax. I've frequently had cars that I knew had been in accidents with a clean Carfax. I disclose it, but many don't.

owner of the FL car accepted my offer of $5500 so I'm flying down on the 3rd or 4th depending on flight availability and driving it back.

Owner is an older ex-German Air Force guy, built a good rapport with him and think this car will be a good one.

Congratulations, looks like a pretty decent car for the money and with $2200 worth of work already done. Nice!
Happy trails!

Good flight down, owner picked me up, I drove him home, looked over the car, done deal. It's better than expected, as close to a new car made in 1994 as you get. Just got into GA, drove great. Time to eat.

I loved mine. One of the best road cars I've ever owned. Got to 185K miles before the transmission went out. I kind of wish I'd gone ahead and fixed it now, but at the time I was looking for a change.

My wife typically gets the new car and I get the hand-me-downs. We started with a 1984 300D. Good car, went well over 200K miles before passing it on to my daughter. Repaced that with the 1995 E320. A great car. When it came time for a replacement, though, I couldn't see sticking with MB. Ended up with a 2004 Lexus RX330. I think it's a bit of a dog, but my wife likes it. She's fallen in love with SUV's where she sits up higher. I did everything I could to get her to test drive an M3, but she just wouldn't go there.

Such a clean car. Has anyone over 50lbs ever sat in those seats? Congrats, Shaun!

Thanks Guys! Got to CT last night, spent the morning going over the car, what all the buttons do, etc., drove all over the place, now on a train headed home. The 2-memory seat is great for getting in an out a little easier.

He is absolutely thrilled with the car, he couldn't be happier, haven't seen him this excited about something in awhile. I was afraid he wouldn't like the German ride, has had a Buick since 2001, but he loved it. He said it made him feel more confident, which I get.

I hope it breaks down now and again so I can come and fix it. Will do an oil change next weekend and go out to lunch. Proud new owner.
