Invisible glass and newspaper. Don't have a newspaper? Go buy one on Sunday and it will last a long while. Your car is worth the two bucks.
Inside glass has unique problems with plasticizers evaporating from vinyl and plastic parts and sticking to the glass.
For an older car you may have to really clean the window 2-3 times to start with a baseline that is clean. We won't even go into if you smoke.

If you can find the rolls of cheap industrial paper towels like lots of places have in men's rooms, those work great with just a little water. It's more about the paper than the fluid.

The windows are only part of the story.

There are many strong cleaners that will work. But they will take their toll on window seals and any part of the interior they contact over time. Some also create a surface that attracts pollutants making you use the product more often.

I've gone through an amazing (stupidly long) list of window products over the years. The absolute best combination that I've found is:

- Plain water with 5-10% alcohol.
- One of the sponges with a nylon mesh on one side.
- Microfiber towels.

Get a bottle of rubbing alcohol, etc. from the drug store and mix with water. Use an old Windex or other spray bottle. Dampen & squeeze the sponge with tap water before you begin.

Spray the sponge with your cleaning solution. Use the nylon side on the windows. Then wipe dry with the microfiber towels. Buff slightly afterwards with a clean dry microfiber towel.

This won't hurt your seals or upholstery. It's cheap. It won't set up a condition that attracts pollutants after cleaning. It happens to be environmentally friendly (if that matters to you). I get better, more streak-free windows than I've ever gotten with any commercial product. You'll find this is what a lot of the concourse competitors use (those who don't use their cars except for showing may drop the alcohol to 0-3%).

When getting gas I take a couple of the paper towels they have and get them wet and wipe the inside of the windows. Follow that up with 3-4 dry towels and wipe until dry. Works great.

ammonia laced aerosol cleaner (I use John Deere brand...somebody makes it for them) and paper shop towels...finish with a dry shop towel.

There was an article about detailing in Pano or Excellence a while back, and the author said the same thing.

I ditched the newspaper method, among others, for an easy but effective way.

From my local commercial detail supply guy ;). I buy 100% cotton, surgical grade, rags and use AS LITTLE AS, aerosol can only, Invisible Glass.

The rags are abrasive and a 2 rag method is best. The "wet" one which you use to do the scrubbing and moving of product. And the dry, which basically acts as a buffer.

A the window is getting more clean, liken to using a clay bar, you can feel the surface get nice :)

Funny you should mention that. I used clay bar on my windshield this morning. I use Invisible Glass as the lubricant when claying the glass.

I have tried everything too! BUT, this IS the answer: Go to Bed, Bath & beyond and they sell this window cleaner called " Perfect Glass". Next go to a restaurant supply house and get the large coffee filters! That's right! Coffee filter paper and this fluid are THE best! Anyone know of black fender arch moldings? I'd like a set of these for my Conda Green 70 911 car. Thanks, Rick 410-852-5794

I have used Invisible Glass for many years and was happy with the results. I was in Advance Auto a couple of months ago and saw they have Griot's Garage products.

I bought a can of their aerosol window cleaner and it works better than IG.

The "trick" so to speak is to clean the glass and then buff it with a clean cloth.

I also use Rain-X on the windshield which is awesome as well as my orbital buffer once in a while. After removing the wax from the car body I will go over the windshield. The wax that's on the buff pad is just enough to polish the glass nicely.
