I just wanted to come back to this thread for one more comment. Wayne, I realize you're running a business, but I fail to see the purpose of these recent ads (not the banners at the top that have been there a while)...the "new" ones after the first post and at the bottom. All it takes is a quick glance to see the ratio of folks that do NOT log on is several times higher than those that do. I've got a pretty good "filter" so I'm just pointing this out to you. I think it has SIGNIFICANTLY degraded this forum, but that's just my .02. Many of the ads are somewhat related to the thread or tied to my location, but a few have me scratching my head and going WTF? I do NOT want to see ads about "Cheating women for those over 40" and gross as hell toe fungus pictures, etc., and I doubt many do (and no, I haven't been to any other sites that might trigger such garbage either). Those are the two that I've seen multiple times (for example). If this were my forum, and I had the capability to turn this "new" feature off, then I'd consider it...YMMV. At least maybe put a sticky at the top encouraging forum visitors to logon, as most probably don't even realize how to avoid them. Bottom line...imo, many of the "new" ads just reflect badly upon PelicanParts, and I'm sure that's not your intent (either by design or accident).

Thanks again for providing this place!

A Whiner

They maybe horribly annoying, but at least the ad's are in competition for the tacky. (seriously, who designs that crap? I've seen better graffiti by drunks and taggers.)

I have started signing in to avoid the extra ads - they are annoying enough to encourage this. I have also noticed that my login is timing out. This might be related to my work network, but it is yet another step to have to re-login at every work break. Perhaps Wayne is wanting a greater proportion of us to LogIn - certainly this would help informatics and possibly selling the forums for a greater value etc.

I used to use Chrome with Adaware - until I found that signing into Chrome brought all my passwords into an easily seen list unless I deleted the user after each session. I hope this is fixed - but who wants to take that chance again.
