Fitting that you have a picture at the gas pump.

280SL coupe is one of my favorite cars.

Nice car Denis. Seems a bit spendy - but I haven't checked the market for a while. My Dad sold his '89 560 SL almost 2 years ago to a guy who approached him outside the grocery store. Car had 86K miles, hard and soft tops, champagne color exterior and cream leather interior. Garage kept for the last 15 years. I would rate the car 9/10 in overall condition. $12K - I thought it was a killer deal for the buyer.

Yeah, we'll see what the market is on this one. I put obo but I have a price floor that I will not go below. I'll give to another family member for free before some CL low-baller.

Like when I tried to sell my wife's old Highlander on CL. Never again. I got a ton of calls from people who in broken English said the same effing thing. "How low, how low you go?" I ended up selling it to Carmax for about $500 less than I was asking. BTW, the Carmax guy told me that 80K on the clock is the psychological "NO" trigger for most buyers.

Well presented, clean car, good photos, good add copy.
I hate it when people show a car for sale and the carpet is filthy.

If I had to pic nits the best I could come up with would be that you could have taken the pics at a park or more scenic setting, but I don't know if it would make any difference. Prolly not.

On a serious note, is it all right if I contact you with unsolicited services or offers?

Great looking SL, your dad must have been very meticulous because it's a true time capsule. I'd also start high on the price and wouldn't be too quick to come down.

My only suggestion would be to include a photo with the hardtop installed, just because they look so damn sexy with it on.

Very pretty car Denis, great color combo and it looks well detailed. My only suggestions would be to max out the photos as well as provide more detail on the 2013 mechanical refreshing. Even if people don't understand half of what you replaced, a long list of new parts gives them confidence that the car was well taken care of.

My wife has always wanted one of these in red w/palamino interior.
I'd state what the color combo is in the ad. Not all computer monitors will show the true colors.
Is that black or a really dark blue?
I guess a better question is, will it pass Calif smog?

Absolutely, when I sell a car, I take shots from all around the outside of the car. If I see pics of one side of a car, but not the other, I automatically assume that there's a problem on the side that was skipped. Lots of pics! And lots of detail. That will help sell and get people who are on the fence to check out the car.

Good luck

Here's my suggestions, Uncle Denis...

- put the VIN in the listing. I think some people like to run their own Carfax.
- delete the gas station photo. Triggers the gas-hog thought.
- I'd look into fixing the driver's seat bottom and dying at least the backrest edge. It shouldn't cost too much for a car of this value.
- put something like "Responses without phone numbers will be ignored. Sorry, too much phishing and spam." I can't stand the half-ass responses some people give and to be able to tell them apart from phishing scams.
- put a Rockabilly chick in a photo (joking). Better photos in general would be nice, not that it will make much difference.

As others have said, long story short... get some better pictures, something with a nice background (take it to the beach or a park) and include a picture with the hardtop.

I'm Faxing over the adoption papers right now.
