Sleepless nights in strange beds hoping for a good result.
Or 300 viewings of "Avatar"?

One correct guess and whole load more that would loved to have done, thanks for replying
To cut a long story short, 2 years ago I finally got around to writing a list of all the cars I've worked on as I wanted to collect 1:43 scale model cars of each one. Thought it would make a cool display as a piece of garage wall art but in reality I’ve given myself a time consuming job I’m not sure I can finish as a few cars were never released so would be need to be custom built. My car list made me curious so I’ve spent many boring hours stabbing away at my keyboard creating a big up to date excel spreadsheet. After adding up everything my running total came out as a real shock to me ![]() This weekend at Spa in Belgium was the 300th F1 race with cars racing using parts that I’ve designed while I've been working in the sport for too many years. Hopefully the following will help explain what 300 means to me other than just a number of races……. 29 cars in total, 20 F1 race cars, 1 F1 qualifying only car, 4 F1 customer race cars, 2 F1 concept/development cars, 1 test mule car and 1 F1 land speed record car for the Bonneville salt flats 18 World Championships with races on 29 circuits in 24 countries with 19 race drivers and many more test drivers 728 cars Qualified on the grid (each team is only allowed two cars), 38 front row positions, 16 on pole, every grid position down to the last in 24th except for an elusive 23rd slot and 5 starts from the pits because of DNQ (did not qualify) 728 cars Raced, 103 podium finishes, 19 wins, 36 second places, 48 third places, every finishing position down to last place, 24 fastest laps, 386 finishes in the points, 4 DSQ (disqualified), and 159 DNF (did not finish) and 5 DNS (did not start) Drivers World Championship, 46 driver finishing positions, 3 second places, 1 third place and every other position down to 25th except for 10th, 19th and 24th Constructor World Championship, 21 team finishing positions, 1 win, 2 second places, 4 third places and every position down to 11th except for 10th The 300th makes me feel old and a little proud at the same time, hope this thread lived up to the anticipation

Interesting. Who do you work for, what sort of parts do you design and what cars run them at the moment?

Exactly! A friend of mine produces body parts (mostly aero stuff) so I'm very curious?

G'day!

Those shift pattern labels are quite complex on these types of cars - someone has to design and manufacture them!

Wasn't sure anyone would find that bit interesting,
I'm a composite designer engineer but my current job is less specialised/ over the years I've worked on nearly all the composite parts used on a car. Never done a pee tube though ![]() Started with Benetton in 1997 who became Renault, was there for 4 years, then over 6yrs with British American Racing who became Honda who supplied the Super Aguri customer team, now coming up to end of 7 years with my 3rd team

I wish pee tubes were standard in all cars.
