He did need a cut...took care of that! He's also decide to go back out for football. The coach actually approached him. He's started working out again with one of his best friends. Preseason starts in January. he also has summer sessions. He was going to go to Philmont this summer. Still may but he wants me to go as well. The idea of 7 to 12 mile hikes everyday for 10 days doesn't thrill me but it may be one of the last things we as a scout. He's an MB and a project shy of his Eagle. He's burned out from it - its right there for the taking too! Each year I move further back and let him self direct. I'm thinking he needs motivation of the external source...

Mike, philmont will be the most memorable thing your son will do in scouting. It will energize him to finish, no doubt. If you can swing the trip, do it! It is a lot of hiking, but it is some insanely beautiful country, and country that most of the general public will never see.

i think i shall make a deal with him - finish the MB and set up his project and I'll go. I think it would be cool if he was an Eagle when we went. He could do it. He is so close I could smack him!

You need to get that kid a car. Or get him one to restore to keep him busy

How old is he? I was eligible for my Eagle at 13 but my dad had me wait a year to mature and appreciate it. I ended up losing steam, started driving, working, dating, and humping... Got my Eagle with enough merit badges for seven palms the day I turned 18. The last two years were miserable. It may not hurt to give just a little pressure.

He's 15, turns 16 in Feb.- the troop has had some issues with record keeping. He has finished several more then his sash shows. Its supposed to get sorted out in the next few months.

Markus, I don't think he will ever part with that crazy thing! He's talking about getting the seat upholstered now. That seat by the way used to be my work bench chair. He found it by the neighbors curb to be thrown out about 8 years ago. Its a hideous bar chair but I will say it is very comfy...
