I guess I'll stay here until I figure out how to work the heater controls.

Ha, right. It's easier if you just move down to Southern Calif and take the heater out.

When I got the old E, I was looking for parts to upgrade the tensioners. Found Pelican and got the tensioners from a fellow 'bird' and the gasket kit from our host.
The old E has been passed on to another enthuisast and I am driving a Miata for my jollies, but am still coming here.

I still have the same 1985 911 I bought in 1995. With the prices screaming up I just love it more every day.

I was first introduced to Wayne, when he was still selling parts out of his garage, by a mutual friend at work (Hughes) way before I even owned a Porsche.
I've been living Porsche's vicariously thru my brother for a lot of years now and will continue to do so now that I've retired and sold off the only SC with a Sportomatic I've ever seen.

really enjoy the time spent on ppot.

looking forward to the cny meet and greet here at the cafe, and the ensuing drive, i am trying to loop together a few good roads for us.
I can relate to the motivation thing. My car sat idle for almost 5 years. I kind of moth balled it when all three of my kids were at school.

What got me motivated again was forcing myself to get it out and start driving it again.
I was seriously considering selling it at the time but I said to myself "not before I get the feel of it again just to be sure".

Guess what? It's still here. Nothing drive like an older 911.

I answered "Owned a Porsche, Found PPOT, but Sold Porsche and Stayed", but I just bought a Boxster, so I could have also answered that I have a water cooled Porsche. I stayed here through about 10 years of Porschelessness. I didn't really spend time in the OT section until after I sold my old 911. Prior to that 99% of my posts were on the 911 technical board.

I need to get back to the technical board mostly because not being there you miss some interesting stuff like some of Wayne's posts about 959s and 962s and such.

Prior to Pelican Parts, I was a paying member of the Rennlist email list for a year or two.

I DD a 986, and bring the 82 SC out when I need to escape life in general. I found this place looking for parts and just hung out for a little bit.

I found PP when looking for new engine parts for my '77 2.7L engine rebuild. I don't remember when I looked at PPOT the first time. I've been through two cars since joining: '67 912, '72 911E, & still have my '69 911E (but it still needs assembly completion). Since I'm retired, I can check PP nearly each day but don't post that much.

Own an air-cooled 911 for 14 years. Discovered Pelican in 2003 and enjoy the discussions and have met several great folks through the forum. I stay out of PARF.

I am currently Porscheless. I sold my twin plugged Carrera in 2006. I also had a 99 Boxster that I bought with a blown up motor, but I flipped that.
I get to drive them every day since I work on them for a living so, I get my fix. (driving wise) I don't spend time in the technical section because I am kind of burned out dealing with the cars all day.

I started with a 2001 Boxster S, then a couple of SC's, one a highly modified track beast, just picked up a 73 914 2.0. I had never considered a 914 but the 2.0 has decent power, I fit better than in my Boxster and it was affordable compared to a 911. I do have a 72 911 project that will hopefully get some attention at some point. I also race a Formula Vee. Aircooled seems to be a theme.

I owned a nice 83 944 for about 2 years until a Saturn smoked though a county road stop sign and hit me broadside. After shattering my pelvis and breaking a total of 17 bones, I slowly learned to walk and run again. Three months after the accident, I finally found a really nice white N/A 944 up in Buffalo N.Y. (about 12 hour round trip). We went up and test drove it (my first since the accident) and brought it home. I now drive it a couple times a week to work or school functions and enjoy it immensely.

I recently sold my 993, which brought my worrying about it being hit or vandalized, to an end. My motorcycle may be next; I can't decide.

I'm still on the Rennlist, and I still enjoy PPOT.

I've had my '80 SC since 1991 and recently traded my '06 C4S for my dream car, an '07 997TT. So I'm both air and H2O cooled.....the best of both worlds!

I don't post often on PPOT but I do enjoy the wit and humour, the world wide experiences, and the never ending intelligence that gets posted here by you guys! Man, you could ask for advice on pretty much anything and you'll get some pretty savvy answers....you guys are COOL in my books!

Cheers!

Hey Creature
I would consider trading you my driver 1980 SC. If you want a little more vintage ride.

Cheers Richard

I owned an '87 944 and a '93 968. I sold the 968 to get together money to put down on a house. I don't regret it at all, but I sure do miss that car. I miss the smell...

I hope to own another someday, but I don't know when that will be. I've got a wife and two little girls now, and my priorities are very different from what they were when I had the 968.

You're obviously kidding. 964...3.6L, first car with coil-overs, same raw feel and sound as the 3.2 and 3.0 cars. I like em. By now, the oil leak issues on most of the 964's have been resolved through rebuilds. The make great PCA race cars
