Damn mosquito!

We just had one of the top 10 driest Septembers on records. I don't know if one of the neighbors has some mosquito breeding ponds (unlikely) and I don't think our property is a breeding ground. We still have a bad case of skeeters! I have no standing water except at the bottom of the french drains.

I did a Google search and all the home made mosquito traps were tested and found to be pretty much useless. The only commercial trap that seems to work in from Australia and not readily available.

I am tapping the brain trust. Who knows how to reduce or eliminate the mosquitoes?

I wish I could dose the entire area with DDT but that ain't gonna happen. I really hate spraying in the house but that is better than mosquito bites. Any preferences or recommendations on brand of a can of spray that does not leave a residue on carpets and furniture?

Is there a trap that really works that I can buy? I am willing to pay the price for a good quality trap that really traps and kills mosquitoes? I don't want to wast my money on cheap UV light traps that only catch moths. I don't care about trapping any bug but mosquitoes. Kill em, die, die damn mosquitoes!

I've given up on traps and starting using spray when they get annoying. Cant speak to furniture, but why spray it? Bugs are attracted to us, I use Cutter and it seems to work fine.

A bottle cap of water is enough for those little parasites.

Some suggestions.

I've got a bat house on the outside of my house. Voracious eaters of insects.

Is this a mosquito? No! It's an insect spy drone for urban areas, already in production, funded by the US Government. It can be remotely controlled and is equipped with a camera and a microphone. It can land on you, and it may have the potential to take a DNA sample or leave RFID tracking nanotechnology on your skin. It can fly through an open window, or it can attach to your clothing until you take it in your home. Given their propensity to request macro-sized drones for surveillance, one is left with little doubt that police and military may look into these gadgets next.

How about essential oils? I spray Eucalyptus mixture inside of my house.
Kills odors and I have no skeeters and/or pests.

We had a trap years ago that worked pretty well. I am not sure that the smell was any better though. Are they nesting in the house, in the regular traps? Foaming drain cleaner to clear them out? Make sure you keep all the drains covered.

Outside I would bet the trap would attract more than you kill.
