No more worries about battery life! Mahalo.

Don Ro 10-02-2014 04:25 PM

What's it for? A fast charging device?...a power storage unit?

Don Ro 10-02-2014 05:20 PM

I ordered one anyway - what the hell do I know?
Got an iPhone coming and maybe I can use it.
For $10...what the hell, eh?

Yes, and you will use it when you are down to 5% and there is no mean of recharging in sight.

I got this one as emergency recharge in the car or the plane.

Well it comes with a USB to lightning cable so it's worth it for that alone.;)

Thanks for the tip, sm.

Are you in Alaska?

May be the shipping location.

red-beard 10-02-2014 08:30 PM

Next air trip I take I'll have one of our battery banks with me. 254 Watt Hours, or about 30 hours of operation of my laptop. 7 lbs.

Steve Carlton 10-02-2014 09:08 PM

I'm getting the promo code is expired.

Steve Carlton 10-02-2014 09:13 PM

Dan at RMG Enterprises in Sunnyvale recommended this portable battery for jump starting cars (including V8 trucks), so I got one. It'll also work to charge a laptop or cell phone. Apparently, the guys at RMG know the guy who invented this thing.

Yeah their Facebook page says the deal is over.

Sorry.

My brother has one of those.

Swears by it.

The budget cell phone chargers they were selling at the LA County Fair for $20 were junk. My wife goes several times, so she exchanged hers, only to have the second one fail. I hope you guys have better luck.

I had a daughter in college in a remote part of MI and have another at USNA. Both went/go for extended periods of time without 110v. I got them both Mophie battery packs that will recharge an iPhone 2.5 times. For myself I have a very small Mophie good for about a half of a recharge. Waht I like about it is that it's very small and has a built in lightning cable and a built in USB like a thumb drive. Mophie makes good products.

FWIW - anyone else have trouble with cheap lightning cables?

cstreit 10-03-2014 08:00 AM

Damn... Just saw this and the code expired.... thanks though...

LakeCleElum 10-03-2014 08:20 AM

Thanks for the tip. Looks like this code has expired. I recently bought 3 similar ones for $18. It looks like sale is still on. They make great gifts:

M.D. Holloway 10-03-2014 12:24 PM

I bought a myCharge for $80. I plug it in and in about a 1/2 hour its fully charged. I bring it on the road and hook my iPhone up. If I'm at 5% it will lighten charge it to 100% about 30min or so. The thing is good for 5 to 8 full recharges before it needs to be recharged. Its about the size of my phone.

I normally would have ignored the item myself but a friend had one with her last weekend and swore by it. She loved the thing.

The cheap lightning cables are cheap because they are missing a chip that authenticates them as an Apple approved peripheral which is why you get the message when you use it.

Apple don't want to replace hardware because we fried it using a cheap peripheral.

And naturally they to protect their eco system as well.

If it'll power my laptop, I can. I bought it for someone who could use it.

Those do work well. I have seen them, stand alone, start a race car, and by that I mean a Penske #2 motor that Kesolowski USED to race in NASCAR events.

Recommend that my brother buy one and he loves it.

gassy 10-03-2014 06:23 PM

For anyone that missed the deal, I will sell you mine unopened for, let's see, $250.00.

Did you take his image URL out of your quote? That's the gravy.

I sure did...

Shaun @ Tru6 10-04-2014 09:36 AM

it's too bad we couldn't break into their site and create a nasty warning page or whatever and then post that URL all over here. :)

that would be fun.

stomachmonkey 10-05-2014 12:33 PM

Mine showed up today.

Quality packaging, very Appleesque in construction but not in aesthetic.

Product itself feels quality, has some heft to it and feels solid.

I think the reason they heavily discounted it is the styling, it's white on one side and gold on the other so it looks a bit odd, dated even.

Don't care because I picked it up for function, not appearance. Turned it on and the indicator lights show it was fully charged but plugged it in anyway.

Overall 1st impressions are it would have been a steal at $50.00
