Protective Aluminum Alloy Frame Cases for iPhones...any noticeable loss of reception?
Seems to be a lot of complaints about this.
Anyone? If not, which aluminum frames are you using? An inquiring mind wants to know.

My experience was that early Element cases would cut my Bluetooth range and chop calls but they were beautifully made. Not sure about the latest ones. Rokform also make aluminum cases that also look great. I think Rokform was part of Two Brother Racing the motorcycle racing company. They look awesome and have an interesting mounting system. One of the guys here has one and loves it. No interference issues.
(Fully disclosure - my company, Pelican Products, makes cell phones cases)

I'm thinking of this aluminum frame...minimal cage...and I want to rig-up a ring on those corner screws for a neck lanyard.
I don't want to spend $$ on an elaborate cage...and don't want reception problems. . $4.27 Protective Aluminum Alloy Frame Case for iPhone 5/5s - red at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping . ![]() . . ![]()

That's the one that I had problems with and when I bought it I think I paid $60 for it!!! The machining of the Element case was really nice and I was sad to remove it. Our retailers will not take any phone cases with metal frames as they have been known to cause some interference issues.

I would use a simple case that has a back, and screw/epoxy a tab on the back that extends to a lanyard ring. You could cut a tab from aluminum sheet that would have a large gluing area.
Or, google image search "iphone lanyard case" and lots of possibilities come up. Last edited by jyl; 10-08-2014 at 07:15 AM.. |

Paul sent along this case when I bought his iPhone 5.
I just may mod it for a neck lanyard. . ![]()

I've used an aluminum Exovault case for three years with no issue. Pre-ordered one for the iPhone 6 I don't have yet.

I would drill holes in the plastic, loop 30 lb mono through the holes, attach lanyard.
