I was tiring of the French press so I bought a non auto espresso machine & a new burr grinder. My old grinder was worn out. I forgot what a messy pita it is to make a quad latte in the morning. I've returned to the French press & the new grinder has made a difference. I still have a latte in the evening if I'm busy.

I always had the impression the kcup machines we expensive to use all the time. I drink a lot of coffee. I'll tell you what surprised me, the Starbucks instant coffee. They're not cheap, but taste pretty good for quick cup. I need to get another box for work.

I have a Keurig and a pod machine at work. Very reproducible coffee, but neither one makes memorable coffee. As soon as the Keurig dies (and I hear they have short lives) I'm spending the money on one that grinds the beans and brews the coffee (Saeco or similar). Coworker had one and the coffee was far far superior to anything a Keurig could make on their best day. Want quick coffee that tastes the same no matter the brand or type...Keurig will be the one.

That Saeco machine will die fast. Manual is the way to go for GOOD coffee. My experience. Saw $2k machines that ground, tamped, and brewed that didn't last a year. YMMV

My wife bought a Keurig for our house. I bought a black and decker single serve coffee maker for my apartment in the bay area. Since I fly back and forth I frequently rotate between the two and I can tell the difference between traditional brewed and the Keurig. I prefer the traditional brewed. Black and Decker Single Server - $24.99 at Target.

Ohhh geezus here we go again...

I spent the dinero (1700) 11 years ago this month for a Salvatore Espresso Machine and a Mini Mazzer grinder. Have used those machines nearly everyday without a hiccup. You might say I got my moneys worth out of those machines and have enjoyed every cup of coffee out of them How is that for a testimonial. Not only that but the price of those machines has increased by 33% since I bought them

Moral of the story..buy a high end Espresso machine and stop screwing around with a high price per cup of coffee machine. Believe me when I say that the difference between each variatial type of coffee can be discerned with an espresso machine.

That is my fking two cents and I am sticking to it.

Yea, that's what my friend said happened to hers, she bought another brand (can't remember right now) that has been trouble free for several years. Gotta do your homework.

That's the plan for me as well. Back on topic, waiting for the Keuring to die.

Tossed the K-cups at our office. I only like coffee from a superautomatic.

I love my Saeco Incanto. It's made four cups of coffee a day, minimum, for 5 years. That's not counting the all the espresso and cappuccino it's made. The price on these super automatics has really been coming down.
