Breakfast near downtown LA this Sunday the 26th?

Anybody up for a breakfast meetup this Sunday? I have to drop the tweeze off at the convention center at 7am for a half marathon she is running so I'll have about 3 hours to kill. Is there somewhere good near downtown to grab breakfast, and would anybody want to meet up?

7AM?!?!?

The Original Pantry is an LA institution but gets mixed breakfast reviews. This place is supposed to be good: Nickel Diner - Downtown - Los Angeles, CA | Yelp

Denis may have better suggestions near downtown. I know a great Hawaiian place on the west side that has the best French toast ever.

Lets try and meet up, so I can get that 924 stuff back to you.

Todd, I'm not excited about the time either. Will probably have to get up around 5 to make it there from the OC.

Sounds good Dave. You'll still be up right? ;)

How about the "Pantry"? That place has not closed doors in, what, 50 years? I think the doors don't even have locks:

At the rate I'm going right now, yes. :(

I'm not a big breakfast guy but I've noticed that Phillipe's has a full breakfast menu and everything there is usually good. Moderately priced, as well.

It's on the other end of DT, though, across from Union Station on Alameda.

The pantry will work, depends on you guys. I'm always up for local dives. Now, who all is in?

Dennis, a little ways away is ok. I'll have a car. The area around the convention center will be thick with runners if that figures into the equation

Note to self: Install cattle pusher before next Sunday...

I hate LA, but worth it for meeting up with Pelicans.

Anyone want to carpool past the orange curtain?

porsche4life 10-19-2014 09:17 PM

We will be staying in Aliso, Brando, but like I said we will be hauling out early to get thuy to the start line for the race.

livi 10-19-2014 11:08 PM

Sure, why not. :)

porsche4life 10-20-2014 10:50 AM

Haha! You going to make the short drive down from sweden doc?

tweezers74 10-20-2014 09:22 PM

I'll go. French toast sounds WAAAAAY better than running/walking 13.1 miles.

porsche4life 10-20-2014 10:34 PM

Haha! But you gotta order your own if you want more than a bite! ;)

Try Panini Cafe their breakfast is awesome. 600 W 9th street...just a couple blocks from The Pantry, Urth Cafe, 451 S Hewitt, great breakfast too.

Replace Breakfast with Bar and 7 am with 10 pm and I am there!

Head416 10-21-2014 12:29 PM

Sounds fun! There's even a chance I might get my SC off of non-op between now and then!

porsche4life 10-21-2014 12:45 PM

Tom, you know I'm not a morning person either. But I suppose as long as we get someone to hook up a coffee IV drip I'll manage( I'm looking at you alarick) ;)

So I'm thinking we meet around 730 ish? Whats the thought on food. I've seen lots of suggestions. Someone pick a place! Any favorites?

LSA 10-21-2014 01:09 PM

I'd like to go, I'll see if I can make it. I love the Pantry, haven't been there in a bit. Oh man 7:30... that time of day doesn't exist on a sunday.

Dad and I used to go to the Pantry for breakfast when we'd be doing stuff round LA. One time we showed up and there were police all over. A guy had been freakin stabbed maybe half an hour before we got there and part of the place was taped off as a crime scene. Still sat down and got to eat, good ol LA.
