Besides.
I was a prick. Long before I got sucked into buying THE UGLY DUCKLING. |

1000 street 914's still won't up to a single GT3(unless you sold them to buy the GT3) |

Funny but many old timers would agree with the above statement... But then some people can't tell the difference between a Gibson and an Epiphone too. |
I miss my 911S. However I have had a bunch of 914's and I think they are great cars. Had a 924 and hated it. I would like to try a 928 as they are stupid cheap to buy. However you have to have deep pockets to maintain one and be a member of the European Space Agency to work on one. I think ( flames coming) a Jaguar XJS would be a better buy for less initial cost. If it's the late model 6 cyl and not th 12 they are pretty reliable cars for a Jag.

To answer the OP, yes. I own a 944, and am a lower class of human because I own it. It's a total shyte box, and for that I am responsible. Ask Dr. Holloway, he saw it years ago, and it hasn't gotten any better. I've abused it every which way I know. I've put used timing belts on it, off roaded it, JB welded a hole in the radiator, have even driven it while on fire.
Inside and out, it's beat the hell up, some times I feel the same way. However, when tasked, it, and I will move forward. About 10 years ago two guys in a 944S2 pulled up next to me at a light, the driver asked if mine was an 8 valve motor, certainly asserting that his was a newer/better 944. My reply, sure is, half as many to bend.;) |
^^^Nice story, but could you clarify if you or the car were on fire. Either way, good story.

A workmate, a young tosser, said he was surprised the SC wasn't a twin cam. I said yes it definitely has two cams.

Name companies that had production model cars with 12 cylinders......
when I sold my wifes POS cruiser I told her that if I was going to have a car that sat on a battery charger, leaked oil, and had electrical problems I would rather it be a Jag 12. At least it had a chance at being collectable some day. Most English made Jags eventually reach that status. Yeah I'm a rock star:rolleyes: |
I have two cars with 3.0s, one being the 914. It also has Webbers, a wee bit of massaging and an Elephant Street-Track full suspension. It develops tons of torque and can take a corner like I would never dare in my 911 with 9s on the back. I am a worthless sub-human and proud of it!

Whats the story with the 914 and Alphas? Same design team?
|
I guess I'm more sub than sub-human. I wanted a really nice Karmann Ghia but couldn't find one so I got a 911.

My motorcycle is pretty low class too. Easier on me though, that I don't get anybodies expectations too lofty. |

944, 924, 928 and the newer cars with common charistics of other cars makes them well, more common. When I buy cars to be different from the masses I want the car to be different from the masses, not just a different looking body. The farther Porsche got from the air cooled VW beetle the more I lose interest in the Marque. They now have competition with me from other great Marques that build cars with similar power trains and layouts, why pick Porsche over the other front engined water cooled cars? Does not make these other Porsches bad cars just less interesting or unique to me. |
Still a lower class of humans? I have two 951s, and a 911. Several others of each that have passed through my hands. Let's meet and I'll show you class warfare.

My 964 is worth about 5x more than my 944, but it's certainly not 5x better.
