but, you can have this high speed, high technology era. Last week I cancelled my Xfinity with Comcast and what a bunch of B.S. to go through. I spent 2 days on this effort with on-line chats, phone calls and threats. I then signed up with DirecTV and have been overwhelmed with constant emails, robo calls. What a crock of ***** just to get TV service.

Following those episodes, my wife went out and purchased a new 55" flat screen for our master bedroom. No sweat I figured, so yesterday I went to install it and lo and behold they no longer use red/white audio out on new TV's. So, now I can't hook up my surround system as it does not contain HMDI.

Then it seems that everyone wants to control how they collect your payments using auto pay. Just another big crock of ***** as far as I am concerned. I know how and can pay my own bills without anyone's help so stay the F__K out of my accounts...period.

So, to cut this short, I am old, I am tired of this high speed world and your children and their children are going to be absolute robots. Am I p_ssed?? Yes, to say the least!

In fact, I still have a Bird on the roof of my house for Free TV!
Cable/Satellite can fly a kite...

(Got a free 50" Plasma and still don't have it connected to the net...too lazy to figure out wireless "connection" or pull 100' of Cat5 to make it work)

We are on Dish Network... very little of the BS you are talking about... we DO NOT have WIFI at home, just another bill to pay. If we need to look something up on the internet we use our smart phone (whole different thread).

Yeah, telemarketing, especially when you cancel something like cable, satellite, telephone, sucks. You'll get emails and calls and snail mail for the old company for at least a year if not more. As an ATT customer, they send me mail and emails to buy service from them that I already have.

Are you one of those folks that's still whipping out the checkbook at the grocery store?

Let me guess, you're carrying a quarter so you can use pay phones when you need to make a call and you aren't at home?

I hear you....I used a hotel booking site one time this summer to book a place in a small town in Poland....At least 3 times a week, I get spam suggesting a place to stay in that area.........

Just because I do business with you once, don't send me endless emails for years......I should have used an email account I have just for those purposes.......

44? Kids nowadays! I'm 57... I work with tech (yeah, I'm still working) but we are trying to find a balance of convenience Vs overexposure... My cell phone was destroyed and I went for a week without it, didn't miss it much.

Emails addresses are free, everyone should have one or more "throwaway" email addresses.

Auto-pay can be handy for "must pay" monthlies (mortgage, insurance, etc.)

Whenever I sign up for any service (phone or TV) I always ask my neighbor's and friends first to find out who has good/bad price/customer relations.

Years ago I started a second checking account at our credit union, North Island which is in San Diego. The only use was to auto pay bills since I found that even 10 years ago most places such as Dish network, Giganews, dental insurance, car insurance, etc all gave a discount if you did an auto pay. At the time Dish was 10% as was our car insurance! So I leave enough $$$$$ in it to cover about 2 months worth of bills and also use it for paying when buying something on line! No service fees either!

Some telemarketer called me on Thanksgiving morning at 8-00 AM about women's PMS symptom medicine, I just yelled in to phone "REALLY" ! I hate most new technology and also really get annoyed when everyone in a car on my commute home has a phone to their ear, makes me feel unsafe.

I went camping with two other couples and their kids, and we were all sitting around the fire at night, I commented on the satelites going over that looked like moving stars, and no one said anything. I looked around and except for me, every single one of them had their attention buried in their phone or ipad.....what gives.

I am getting a good laugh out a lot of the replies, so some of you cranky, grouch bas____s managed to cheer me up. Now that I am in my 70's I remember when my father used to p_ss and moan and I never understood why. However, I know exactly what he went through and that was in the days when you had to still wind up your wrist watch.

So, you youngies have a lot of eye opening "why they h-ll did they do that" days ahead of you.

I don't have a clue how to post a picture on Pelican or anywhere else. My cell phone is for talking not texting, no camera use. I like FM radio just fine and roll my own. Life is better when it's simple......

I am a geezer and I love the simplicity and security of on line bill pay. I go weeks at a time without any cash. It is great to have my utilities automatically paid. Never one single problem in 15 years of doing that.

Keep complaining and stay in the last century or minimum. We will just move on without you.
