Pro-white??

Talking to a buddy last night about the NFL playoffs.
He is from Baltimore but was rooting for the Pats.
When asked why, he said because the Pats offense is mostly white.
"I am not anti-black, but I am pro-white"

Is there a difference?

flatbutt 01-12-2015 06:42 AM

Only in his mind.

sammyg2 01-12-2015 07:09 AM

He's a racist.

BTW i am also a patriots fan but for a completely different reason.

They are one of the very, very few teams that still have class. They believe the team is more important than the individual and they do not allow team members to dance around and celebrate like 3 year olds for doing their freaking jobs.

They don't employ criiminals either. If one of hteir players decides to break the law, he's gone. Bam.
Unlike other teams that go out of hteir way to recruit and encourage that kind of beahavior bengals coboys raiders .......
Now before anyone says that disliking that low-class unsportsmanlike bad habit could also be called racist, plenty of white players make an ass out of themselves out there too.

I'm with Sammy on this one - c'mon, it could happen. However, of the remaining teams I'm a Green Bay fan. I like their business model.

masraum 01-12-2015 08:12 AM

Hmm, sure sounds racist to me.

Sorry, but the Belicheck (who is a great coach) Pats will forever be tainted by the videotaping of opposing teams practices--and they did re-sign Lagarret Blount this season even after his arrest.

quit watching football almost altogether thanks to the thug style that permeates the league. Baltimore (I am in Md) has produced some wonderful examples of millionaire thugs acting like jackasses on the field. so I am not a ravens fan.

Belicheck
These two things do not belong together. He's an ass, no class. Ever see what he considers a handshake after a game? Spygate, Hernadez... no team is immune from the BS unfortunately.

widebody911 01-12-2015 08:22 AM

I am of the opinion that the NFL is nothing more than a glorified work release program

Re the silly videotaping scandal:
You are just as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine. Like the jets and eveyone else weren't doing the zact same thing

RE: la-garr-itttt BlUnt. Yes he's a total POS.
He proved what he is made of after the boise state game and hasn't gwn up a bit since then. He was a POS at tampa and at pittsburgh. He will always be a POS and a trouble-maker.
He is one of the (many) reasons I root against the dux (and chip kellie) whenever I get the chance.

When the patriots re-signed him I said "oh great, they just signed the biggest POS in the league. He'll either straighten up finally, or he'll be gone in a flash, they won't put up with his antics". He has toed the line while with the patriots, so far.

Just like with randy mossPOS.

He straightened up when he went to the patriots, and the second he started back-sliding he was gone.

So yes, I agree that signing la-gay-runt was a bad idea, out of character for their team.
One example that contradicts many seasons otherwise. So they ain't perfect.

With the players to choose from in the national felons league, maybe they just ran out of good guys? ;)

Still a Packers fan. Great community. Pretty decent quarterback and receivers as well. Gotta love Nelson.

pavulon 01-12-2015 09:12 AM

I dunno. Seems one should be able to be pro- anything that isn't offensive. Lots and lots of pro-whatever non-Caucasian skin tones and that's all ok.

See, that's the problem. It isn't OK. Not really.
It's just accepted by the people who make up the PC rules and who say it's OK for every group to be a racist cept whitey.
And they are idiots.

You can create all black groups in Congress, schools, and in society in general that openly advocate promoting and uplifting blacks and liberals think it's cool...maybe a thrill runs up their leg.

If a white man thinks that way it's game over. Too funny.....

Fer me it's easier just to say that two wrongs don't make a right.

I sensed the same thing last year when the Seahawks went to the Super Bowl against the Broncos. A lot of rancor against the Seahawks, and Richard Sherman, while praise for Peyton Manning and the Broncos. It got so I started calling Manning "The Great White Hope." Given all the, let's face it, racist comments for the Broncos (Manning) and against the Seahawks it was fun to watch the Broncos fail dramatically. All of my Bronco-loving friends sure got quiet.

BE911SC 01-12-2015 10:41 AM

"America's Team" has always struck me as lightly-veiled racism as well.

911SauCy 01-12-2015 11:14 AM

Reading something like this makes me want to throw bricks through windows and steal sneakers...

BK911 01-12-2015 02:59 PM

Interesting comments.
So is somebody a racist if they only date women from a particular race?

dan88911 01-12-2015 03:13 PM

So he's pro white because the offense is mostly white. Sounds racist to me. If that should change will he look for and root for a different team. Why didn't he just say he likes to see the white players knock the black ones on their butts.
