The BMW plant was very impressive. We essentially jogged through the body assembly area, and didn't go into the interiors at all. The bulk of our time was spent in the robotic paint booth and rework areas. The folks we met from BMW whether they were in management or a regular worker was very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed the time I spent with the maintenance and programming people.
Here are a few highlight photos of the museum. It was pretty small, but they did have some very interesting vehicles crammed into that space. Don't know why my photos won't load. I'll have to do it from my desktop when I get home. Imagine some cool airheads, a race prepped M3, and a 1937 328 roadster.

SOTW is fine for a casual BBQ meal but Greenville has such a fine selection of truly outstanding options for dining that its a shame you missed the opportunity for a gastronomic field trip. Or ... the leader was minding the budget and opted for something a little more expense account friendly?
