A German Sportwagen Alternative

Okay the title is a bit misleading, but I thought you all might get a kick out of this parody video. My team threw it together yesterday as part of a creative exploration process.

1st Gear!

I am curious but too lazy to look it up, how much is something like that worth?

No I am not interested, just curious.

It's priced at $1999. A number of people have told us it's priced too low...

All kidding aside, it would make a nice winter beater for folks up here in the frozen north. Unfortunately rustproofing wasn't Toyota's strong suit in the early 80's and this thing will probably swiss cheese after a couple of Minnesota winters.

Nothing new like that made today?

Honda had something similar back in the day, my sister had one before she went Subaru.

A practical vehicle in northern climates, I like it in an odd way.

That's a clean Tercel! Low cost of entry, bullet-proof, great mpg, AWD, cast in Breaking Bad...this little guy has it all.

Classic! Folks had one back in the day. Was called the 'moon mobile' or 'pigmy hearse' by my friends. It was beige and ugly, but extremely functional and good in the snow....

I knew a guy that had one in high school that was passed down by his parents. Worn out shocks so it bounced on a smooth road and rust holes, but no matter how hard he tried it would not die. It went mudding, jumped stuff, ran into things, typical high school stuff. The damn thing just would not die.

Reminds me of the friend who used to have an early Subaru wagon:

"This car is so adequate! This is by far the most adequate car I've ever had!"

Another friend of mine had an '80s Subie coupe. His parents had acreage, and one evening after a few too many beers we decided that since the Subie was 4wd, it should be awesome off road. It was fun until he tried to jump a rock and pushed the passenger rear floor pan almost level with the seat bottom. I think he beat it back with a hammer and drove it for a few more years.

Sounds like my genius buddy from HS. Tried to drive his jeep across the pond on his dads farm because the water was low. Stuck it in about 3 ft of water and had to get the tractor to drag it out.

Same genius also shot the windshield out of the aforementioned Jeep one night while out road hunting. Still not sure how, but it had something to do with the pistol in the cheap holster on his hip going off. Damn lucky it didn't shoot himself. He bashed the windshield with a rifle stock and told his folks he hit a turkey!

Emissions and govt regulation, plus a lot more power than they had 30 years ago.

My 91 CRX HF got 52MPG highway, the tiny 1.3L was a big reason but the low weight of it was the real reason. Cars today are much heavier due to govt crash standards.

I would love to have that car. I'm driving a Ford E-350 diesel van as a commuter.

I like those ugly ducklings and wanted one all because of the 4WD and a wagon for extra storage. Great vehicle to go skiing with great hwy milage. One thing about that Turd-cel, it is slower then watching grass grow. One thing I can't understand and I know its an act (not funny to me at all because I am stuffy, cranky bastard) what's with movements and acting so ethnic?

Not sure about the ethnic comment. The guy on camera was simply being goofy. I do t think any ethnic undertones were intended.
