This is what my lawn equipment dealer recommends. He says premium has more additives or something. It's what I've been doing, with no problem.

I have had zero issues but I also take steps to keep it that way. All the lawn equipment gets run out of fuel (this crap isn't gas) and I put staybil in the tank and crank it until it drips out of the muffler. In the spring I simply change the filters as part of the awakening for the summer and fill the tanks with new fuel and crank until they run the remaining staybil out and fire up. The 911 sits in the garage for a few months so I dose her up with staybil and a full tank for her hibernation, but I would do that even before crap-corn-fuel was the norm

I do the stabil thing as well, but am fortunate to have several gas stations in Nelson and Augusta counties of Virginia that sell Ethanol free high premium gas. There is one gas station along the I-81 corridor "Royal" which sells only ethanol free high test. I don't know if the gas is any good, but the ethanol free is good enough for me. I don't worry about the cars so much, but the tractors, weedwackers, powerwasher, chipper, lawnmower, leafblower, etc...... all get the etoh free gas. The generator gets a completely clean out after every useage, the rest get run dry at the end of the season and a gulp of stabil.

Seems like the ethanol stretches the diaphragm in the carbs of the smaller equipment really easily. Bad running- I go straight to new diaphragm, excpept some of the cheaper equipment doesn't even sell that- they make you buy a whole new carb! All the better STIHL equipment has done well. I take more care feeding them gas than I take care feeding my kid.

Edit: And, yes, I blame ethanol for the flaming demise of my porsche 951 R.I.P.

Nope, definitely spelled Tool Fuel. (I've poured enough of the crap....). Actually I think the were taken over by VP fuel. Maybe that's why it's not coming up.

I use Avgas whenever possible in my smaller engines...smells good (if you're a pilot it's a good smell) when it burns, and is perfectly stable.

All fuel lines in chain saws, trimmers, leaf blowers have disintegrated. I also see about 2 car fires each year around here, very rare before.

Oops, I forgot about my generator. 2 years, same gas, stored in my outdoors shed.
2nd pull of the string, fired right up, ran for 1 minute on choke, turned choke off, and still runs like the day I bought it . Im going to run it empty, and store it properly, as this does not get used that much. The rest of my stuff gets run hard all season long , and really only sits for 5-6 months .
I'm hoping I did not just jinx myself. I'll probably be needing 6 carb rebuild kits this week.

Ethenol............

I use ethenol free gas in my two cycle engine tools and regular ole pump gas w/10% ethenol in my cars and lawnmower. So far, no problems with anything.

Neibour has a small engine repair business. Ethanol is evil. I run #1 gas in all my small engines.

Fill the truck with #1 so all the E85 gas is out of the pump and then fill the gas cans. Also buy your gas from a busy station so you know the fuel hasn't been sitting in the tank for 6 months before you buy it.

Does Sta-bil have a shelf life? I buy it every year with good intentions, but...

Yes it does. About a year comes to mind but not sure. I always put a piece of masking tape on my bottles with the date I opened it.
