My wife loves their now cancelled TV show, thinks they are good people and we should be more like them. I've always been disturbed by it because the dad doesn't let his kids make decisions, he is sexist and doesn't empower his daughters, his kids don't seem prepared for the real world, and they live in their little church silo. Also, just the nutty factor of having that many kids. Now lo and behold, things are not as perfect as they seem.

As a Catholic, it annoys me that these people are held up as a model of Christianity. I grew up with an uncle that was a huge religious hypocrite, so I can spot that personality from a mile away. Real people are perpetually imperfect, some just choose to hide it with a facade. I have friends of every religion, as well as some that choose not to believe in God. It's not a big deal as I judge people by their merits, not their religious beliefs.

No disrespect but I don't watch that crap so I can't offer any opinion. :D

Well that's just creepy... I have to say, I've always been a little off-put by the Duggars, and even more so by Sister Wives. A small taste in the form of part of a single episode was more than enough. Can't put my finger on exactly what bothers me, but it just feels really "off".

Not sure what this was about I spent 2 minutes letting google educate me. Yikes, creepy is an understatement. I find it hard to believe people are into this kind of thing, but what do I know.

I have never heard of them or that show before. I will not miss the show since I never new it was on.

So sorry for those girls - I hope they get past this without being any more screwed up for the rest of their lives than being part of that family alone is going to screw them up.

The ones I feel bad for are the people who work the show.

My BIL writes the music for several Discovery Channel shows.

Duggars was his show as well as John and Kate Plus 8.

He's made a nice living off clown car vajayjays.

I think the article said she did, and it wasn't the first time, but somehow it kept getting blown off.

The Sister Wives marriage model seems like a good plan.

And yes, (seeing as I can see this on it's way to PARF) as a Christian I find it disturbing that these weirdo's are hiding behind the word "Christian".

Not sure why TLC decided to cancel the whole show because one kid is less than perfect. Seems a bit holier than thou to me. But what- evar.

Does it seem to anyone else here that instead of going to see PT Barnums freak shows we just turn on tv now? Polygamy, dwarfs, huge families, swamp people, bug exterminators...

I stumbled upon an episode once while couch surfing....They were at the creationism "museum" or something like that. My thoughts then and now? Dad should be held criminally responsible for telling his kids the earth is only 5000 years old and cave men rode dinosaurs.....:rolleyes:

Never saw it. Read about the family in USA today. Hopefully it'll go the way of duck dynasty...
