Holy moley what a GP race that was. You think "oh yawn here we go again" but no....the gods of racing were definitely drinking heavily today!

It's a shame the track started drying at the end, as the outcome would have been much different. Interesting to see Lorenzo with that much pace in the wet as he's usually not a fan of those conditions.
Philip Island looms next; that should be a great race. JR |

And lucky for us, in only seven days! Waiting two weeks for a race kills me!

De Angelis update
He's taken a turn for the worse. From Autosport:
"Alex de Angelis is now in a critical condition in hospital in Japan after a further scan on Sunday found an intracranial bleed following his heavy crash in MotoGP practice at Motegi. The Ioda rider was initially diagnosed with a lung contusion plus multiple fractures to ribs and vertebrae after he was airlifted to Dokkyo Hospital on Saturday. That examination suggested his head injury was confined to conussion, but MotoGP medical director Dr. Michele Macchiagodena said subsequent checks revealed further complications. "Alex underwent a head CT scan on Saturday which gave negative results – however, further checks today with the MRI demonstrated that he suffered intracranial bleeding," he said. "His condition is critical and he needs to be monitored closely. "He's currently sedated, his vital signs are stable but we need to keep an eye on the bleeding to evaluate, within the next 24/48 hours, if further intervention is required." De Angelis is due to undergo a further neurological examination later on Sunday. Although no footage of De Angelis's crash has been broadcast, he appeared to lose control of his Aprilia on the exit of Turn 9 and make violent contact with the metal barrier on the other side of the circuit. Dr. Michele Zasa from MotoGP's mobile clinic and Ioda team owner Giampiero Sacchi will remain with de Angelis in the Japanese hospital. His family is also being transported to Japan." |

![]() Oh no!!! That's terrible news. I hope he'll pull through with a full recovery. It was scary seeing him on the side of the track, completely motionless, as they tended to him, preparing to move him into the ambulance.

Thoughts go out to De Angelis. Reports now are that he is stabilizing and talking.
What a fascinating championship battle this has turned out to be! I feel really fortunate to be able to witness it. I hope it goes down to the last round... can't even imagine what it will be like to be at Valencia and the atmosphere there!

Well with three rounds to go and Rossi being up by 18, he must avoid giving up more than 5 points per round to Lorenzo in order to win. So barring a DNF or other fubar this will go to the last race. Rossi,Rossi,Rossi!

DeAngelis is doing better
Update 12/10/2015: On Monday, De Angelis had a head and chest CT scan, which reassuringly showed that the intracranial hematoma he suffered was unchanged while the contusions to his lungs are slightly resolving. The rider remains in a critical condition but as his sedation was reduced, he was able to talk and oriented in time and space. He'll undergo a further head CT scan in the next 48 to 72 hours to ensure the intracranial hematoma is stable while the conditions of the lungs will need further evaluation. MotoGP™ Safety Adviser Loris Capirossi and FIM Grand Prix Safety Officer Franco Uncini visited de Angelis on Monday morning; during his treatment in Japan, the rider is assisted by Dr Michele Zasa from the Clinica Mobile.

Yeah, it sounds like the brain bleeding has stabilized, which is very good news. He sounds a lot more banged-up than what the first reports indicated, as he's still labeled as critical.

Great news re: De Angelis.
I'm trying to put together a trip to the Valencia finale. Might be the last chance to see VR take a championship, and also will be Nicky's last MotoGP race. Tickets are hard to come by, though. Looks like they're sold out

Thanks for that. Looks like everything is sold out for Sunday. The circuit is holding a last minute sale of some new tickets tomorrow morning, but I'll be in the air flying for 10 hours and will miss out on it. I have a buddy with some connections looking for tix now, so all is not lost yet.

Would love to see Nicky get at least a podium before he heads over to WSB. Bet I'm not the only one.
