The other part of the story is that I bought her a nice local, one owner 1986 Prelude SI a few months back. She just can't get comfortable launching the car so I've been driving it and its not a bad car. Everything, I mean everything works on this car. May have to sell it and buy an automatic.

Those Preludes were great cars. Too bad Honda took that the Accord Coupe route and dropped the Prelude. Didn't they have active 4 wheel steering on those?

This one does not have four wheel steering. It may have been an option or on a later model.
153K miles and one owner. Kinda neat.

I could be wrong but I do believe the 530's suffered the same issue as the 540's with the bad blocks. I'd want to see that the block was replaced under warranty.

You're right. It wasn't until E39 the issue was properly resolved I think. What about a good E46 320i (do you get them in the States) or an E46 323i. Easy to work on and generally very reliable.

Love the Prelude! I never could afford one back in the day.
