this is it. Well, this and block bored again, pistons/rods balanced, rings, main and rod bearings, upper and gasket kits, early oil sump, sump spacer (these two assume I'll take it to the track), need to figure out what's going on with the heads and then I have to plate and Cerakote everything as needed. Also have to send the torque tube for super bearings to be installed. Also need new motor mounts and a mini starter. May opt for new cam gears.
An absolute ton to do. I think December is realistic to have the car on the road. |

Nice thread Shaun! When I was in high school my next door neighbor (radiologist) had a gun metal grey 928. I liked the car, but I loved to hear it turnover. It sounded so incredible. I admire your mechanical aptitude.
Over the years there have been some crazy 928 characters on this board. Hopefully drinking from the 928 ownership cup won't do you any ill. Dr. Jekyll? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1472603957.jpg |
Sniper was crazy??? Maybe so, but I always enjoyed his posts...

Rear suspension, torque tube and transmission are out. Going to do super bearings in the tube and reseal the transmission, may end up rebuilding the suspension. These cars are definitely easy to work on. Electronics aside, I'm not sure why they get such a bad rap.
Lowering the transmission and rear suspension, checking for anything held up http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1472933412.jpg Might separate tube/transmission tomorrow and get to work on the tube http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1472933490.jpg |

How big can you chrome? door frames? Can you chrome plastic (after some sort of coating, of course)?
|
yes, easy to do frames. This one is anodized aluminum I recently did, found it at a local show. that was fun.
I can't do chrome-look plastic I'm sorry to say. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1473885885.jpg |

Looking forward to it Mike.

For chrome look plastic Duracoat offers a spray on finish that imitates bright chrome. As always prep and proper application is key. It is also available in high temp formula for things like engines or exhausts
|
can you do black chrome ?
|
What's the cost for two door handles? They look great...
|
OMG those door handles look amazing!
|
I will ask if my nickel plater does black chrome tomorrow.
90, sent you a PM. Thanks Chris! it's the window frames that my heart goes into though. Have over 90 hours into this set developing an entirely new polishing technique, just dropped them off at the anodizer. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1473969830.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1473969843.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1473969863.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1473969878.jpg |
