As soon as the son arrives, have him *immediately* remove the plants and the pots from your property. No advance warning. What is the CA law? One plant allowed for personal use? No plants allowed? Do not call the police. LE might not look the other way if there's a house and a Porsche 997 to be confiscated...

edit -- On second thought, get rid of it NOW.

Perfectly legal here in Colorado. :)

This^^^..having pot and growing pot are two different things. Cultivation still brings a heavy hand down on you. Now I'm no saint but I would get rid of them now and never say a word to him. He will know but you won't have any confrontation over it.

creaturecat 09-23-2015 07:31 PM

sheesh. it's just a pot plant.
not like he had a meth lab out there.
tell him to remove it.

targa911S 09-23-2015 07:40 PM

say that when the cops show up....

I agree but the what "ifs" come to mind.

Personally I don't see a problem with people smoking pot if that's what they want to do but I take issue when people bring their crap onto my property.
Or... if this "kid" thinks it's OK to do this what else is he up to?

Illegal drugs (regardless of the politics or law) somehow bring undesirable people into your life.
I just don't want any part of it.

Could be Purple Kush.

$25 per gram.

Do the math.

Those could be some very expensive plants.

How will he react if they just disappeared?

Who knows what kind of revenge he might take, if any.

No doubt. What decade are you guys living in?

Worried about "the cops"? In CA? Oh please.

Snip off a big chunk of the buds, when son show up, gently tell him he needs to take his plants elsewhere, end of story.

Oh. The buds I told you to snip off? Smoke. Dat. Schiat.

I'd imagine his Father is Old School Mexican so he would be "very disappointed" with his son for bringing pot plants to your house.

Or extremely Pissed and embarrassed.

If he gives me any s#!t whatsoever, or cops any attitude, I tell the dad and trash the plants.

BTW…there were three…

Craig...thanks for your reply and confidence in my suggestion.

The only concern I have is that the son does not get into legal trouble as a consequence of removing them. He needs to have a fail safe strategy for this - because if he does get caught - his dad may hold you accountable to some degree.

For me this is an exercise in how to maintain relationships while removing yourself (and the other party) from legal exposure.

Speaking of which - it probably wouldn't hurt to delete this entire thread at some point. ;)

Good luck!

To be honest…His father might very well kill him for disrespecting me this way. That's no joke.

HardDrive is right. If I called the cops here, the dispatcher would tell me on the phone... "Put them in the sun tomorrow. Don't overwater them. I'll send my boyfriend over to pick them up in a day or two".

When I was in college in 1978, I would have stolen them, played dumb, and had a big party. ...By 7:05am tomorrow they'll be gone. He'll be sweating bullets until his dad gets home. In two weeks he'll be smokin it like it never happened.

mreid 09-23-2015 08:34 PM

Send them to me for further investigation.

mikester 09-23-2015 09:15 PM

Put some yellow police tape around the shed.

saxen 09-23-2015 09:19 PM

He is 21- not really a kid anymore- fire him. Let him take his plants and be done with it. If he was 15 it's a totally different situation-

And a hidden camera so you can see him crap his pants! ;)

McLovin 09-23-2015 10:31 PM

lol, so much panic.

That's a tiny, almost value-less amount of plants.

$25/gram? Not even close. If that were the case, there'd be pot plants being grown in every other garage and garden in California!

$25/gram would equal around $12,000 a pound. With that financial incentive, grandmas would have grows in California.

What he is growing is undoubtedly for personal use. If he (as just some dude on the street) tried to sell it, he'd be lucky to get $800 a pound. And each of those little indoor plants are only going to yield a few ounces. So those plants would yield a couple hundred bucks.

If he has his $40 medical recommendation, that amount of plants is half of what California allows.

(of course, cannabis is still illegal under Federal law as a Schedule 1 drug!)

McLovin 09-23-2015 10:32 PM

that being said, it certainly does you no good having those at your house.

I'd just tell him to remove them, which he will do, and move on.
