No, it is happening all over Oregon. I guess the TPMS law has been on the books for several years but most stores have been ignoring it, now they aren't. No doubt the profit margin on $240 is a factor, but this tire shop has been very good to me over the years.

My commute is 65 miles one way, Blizzaks go on at Thanksgiving and off in April. I'll never go without snows again. Night and day difference. Today the first 20 miles were not plowed after a 4" snowfall, ez pz with snow tires. Get a 2nd set of rims.

The problem there is the "new rims" part - I wasn't just doing tires. I'd expect to be able to find a mom-n-pop that won't worry too much about the sensor. Does Oregon really have that much free time to pay attention to this?

We get snow tires because my wife has to drive four hours over mountain passes to visit her elderly ill mother, sometimes on no notice (mom gets hospitalized, wife has to jump in the car). My wife is not the sort to notice that a tire is deflating, she's more the sort to get stuck twenty miles into a snowy pass with a flat tire, no idea how to change it, and no cell coverage . . .
