I did say "some" of the actors.
Never meant to imply all actors.

Ted Nugent is awesome and that's where I got the "I cannot be my brothers keeper" quote from.

My comments about California (AKA P.R.C. "Peoples Republic of California") was only my way of consantly razing all my friends.
My soon-to-be wife hails from CA. It was meant only in jest. Of course, the movie Escape from L.A. had something going there.

And I'm not sure exactly what you mean by the hiding behind the first amendment thing.
I don't believe the film industry at large is hiding behind anything.
It just seems odd to me how some of the big names in the industry seem to think that the right to bear arms is something which can be bent or revoked. But when it comes to their right to film, do, or say whatever they want in regards to their material, written, film, or otherwise, they can't stand the thought. Because the Constitution guarantees them that particular right.

Hey, I might be the only person on this board who isn't afraid to admit that I'm not the smartest guy in the world. Nor do I claim to hold the correct view or even be totally well informed on every topic.

Cam, I want to appologize for my last post. It was me who sounded very rude, even though it wasn't my intention.

I love you, man... you dirty hippie... j/k

Anyway, I'm aweful for posting my opinons based off of gut feeling, past dealings, and random stuff that I've seen and heard over the years. I'd never make a very good debater... even though I love to argue.

The 2nd amendment argument is trotted out by gun lovers, but it is NOT carte blanche for any public citizen to own a gun. The purpose of the 2nd amendment was so that a militia could be maintained...not so that Joe Sixpack could have a Glock and an AK-47 for grins and/or "protection".

I'll agree that people kill people, but guns make it sooo much easier to do the deed, and depersonalize the act. Given the violent nature of our society, the last thing I want is to make it easier for every yahoo to have a 9mm in their glove compartment. While I expect my 6 year old to have some impulse control and anger management issues, the sad fact is many adults are almost on par with my son. Would I give my son a Glock? Nope. Would I give Joe Schmoe one? Nope.

What about the hunters? I don't dig it, but sure, they can have their fun. A nice 30-06 should do nicely. I don't think they need an AK or any sidearm.

Handguns are designed for one purpose: killing a person. If everyone was armed would criminals think twice about doing the crime? I doubt it. Other "deterrents" don't seem to have much effect. If everyone was armed would there be more accidental deaths? My guess is yes.

Much of society is designed to make people feel bigger/better. Our cars are a classic example, guns are another. While a 911 can kill someone, if used in its intended manner, it won't. A handgun on the other hand...

I congradulate his ability to think critically and being able to change when presented with improved information. Not always possible with some.

Well done.

I actually still believe some of the tenets set forth in my post (eg every yahoo having a 9mm in their glovebox). With other aspects I've clearly changed my stance. Some of us are willing to adapt and change. I do stick with a basic philosophy of mine though - if you're going to do something, do it right. I believe I'm in the upper 1% of armories on PP at the moment

Sometimes, I had rather not see what I wrote almost ten years ago.

Sorry, here's the thing...

Lets say we DO ban guns. Who will turn them in?

The guy that owns a handgun for home protection and woudn't think about shooting someone in an argument?
Or the 16 year old gangbanger who is considering popping someone in a drive-by to get initiated into the gang?

So obviously the answer is the legal owner will turn it in. He's also the least likely to shoot someone. The MOST likely to shoot someone already disrespects life and law enough that he's not going to listen to any band anyway...

Anyone who knows Nostatic well knows he jumps in with both feet. Remember the gorgeous venezian blau Carrera he owned for a few days about eight years ago? Do a search of that fiasco. After the divorce he got an SC, became a hardcore track junky and spent ridiculous amounts of money on that car. Then he sold it and got back into bikes. Remember those threads? I think after a few months of having an Aprilia, he went through another Ducati or two in a matter of weeks and then asked for suggestions for his next bike with a budget of around $5k. The next week he had a new BMW R1200GS. He doesn't do anything halfway. I hope his next hobby isn't something crazy expensive.
