My xb12 was a little lackluster in the shifting department. Not as bad a Polaris automatic shifter, but definitely not on par with the modern Asian bikes.
I blame these weird looking things.

and there is less vibration at idle than the 900SS.

don't get me wrong, i loved the 900SS. it was very maintenance free and ran like a dream (except when cold, which the buell does just fine).

the buell is simply better in nearly every way than 900SS. except a 6th gear.

and the top speed is nearly identical.

so, that is my review and comparison of these two bikes.
