That is not a snake, that is a future belt.

We do "catch and release" up on the family property in Central Texas. There are a couple of snake snares hanging in the garage that can be looped over their head and tightened. The coral snakes can't get out of a 5 gallon steel bucket so they just get loaded in the bed of the pick-up and are taken for a ride down the dirt road for a mile where they are poured out of the can and are exiled to a new home. We usually leave the copper heads alone. They live in the lawn mower barn and keep the wood rat population in check. Those little chewbakas really mess up the wiring on the mowers. You just have to make a lot of racket and bang thing around when you open up the barn to be sure the copper heads slither off to the pile of junk in the back before you start messing with the mowers. They like to hang out on the driveway on a warm summer night so it is best to take a flash light when going out for a stroll. When you see one, you just stomp on the ground a few times and they head off into the woods. Fortunately we don't have rattle snakes on the property. They like the black dirt 5 miles down the road better than the red dirt we have for some reason.

Loss of snakes equals more rats.
More rats equals more fleas.
More fleas equals the return of the bubonic plague and 1/3rd of civilization being wiped out.

Snakes are your friend.
