I believe someone on here has posted that it is already available.

If you look at the pic I just posted, the grey late 60's chevy pickup is fake patina, grey primer sanded through to white paint. Looks good though as it is a nice truck.

But it's fake.

I respect your opinion YP but would respectfully disagree with the assertion that it looks great.

Flat paint isn't sun-weathered paint, it's a short-cut. If that's good enough for the owner, then that's fine but similar to the owner of anything fake, he will know it's a fraud and likely never truly be satisfied with the finish on the thing.

actually I would rather have a car with cracked and fading paint. rather have a car with dents and dings, even rust than have one with bright shiny paint and chrome that has to be constantly cleaned and polished. One you have to watch where you park and make sure no one gets close enough to scratch it. I have friends with cars that just one is worth more than all of mine together. they guard their cars to keep people away. I leave my doors open, keys inside and let others drive it anytime they ask. at rat rod shows I sit back and watch my friends race it against others.. can't do that with shiny pretty. I have fun with my cars. all my cars have plenty patina

Well what I meant was, it's a nice truck style wise and looks good in spite of the fake look. I didn't say great, but good

Really it is silly...look at the people who pay big money to have their guitars "relic'd." It has developed into a cottage industry. I never understood it but to each his own, I guess.

This was some killer patina. I'd love to own a car like this.

This has some serious patina.
But, notice the perfectly restored engine at 0:51

Ya, the Rat rod crowd is just trying to cover up their bad taste!

It is like a fad, and the fad followers all try to be the king of bad taste!

Here is my brother's cars and his IMSA level built 2.8 1967 911 and the front nose rock impacts from running and driving it on the race tracks and the streets! The car is completely rust free, original paint garaged it's whole life of his 32 year Ownership! I got mad at him and wanted it to go to the Phoenix Socal show as it was, because he had just spray can painted the bumper and was about to do a door retouch!

True Nose patina!

patina is everything in old cars. it means you know what you are getting. original. no half assed prior work covered up. you see the car as it was before everyone gave a **** about it.

or should I say 'honest' patina. fake patina is just awful.

Around here there is a Magnus Walker looking guy with a beautifully made over VW Combi/Bus. Lowered, wheels etc and fake patina. He often parks on the road across from me. It seems like every 10 minutes someone is taking a photo of it or doing selfies with it in the background.

Oh yeah, I've looked underneath it and it is immaculate. Lots of money thrown at it. It's obviously the guy's life and bless him for it.

I do understand real patina. I don't personally care the for the fake patina, so I will not buy one. Simple enough. My daily driver 86 El Camino has 370,000 miles and the front grill is not prefect, and it has some real patina but it is not broken or cracked at all. My license tag is a personalized tag and the old style that was stamped out of metal. Now new tags are just printed, and flat. My old tag is white background, and black letters. The areas around the letters and numbers is stained from 29 years of real road dirt. Nothing will remove it, and it is real patina. I have had several people suggest I get a new tag when I renew it. Ain't gonna happen. The paint on the vehicle is great, and it is sharp looking. After 29 years of driving it, it is something I plan on keeping.

I hope that car was left as is.

I didn't pay any extra for mine, and I'm not messing with it. Original paint, what's left of it.
