Restaurant suggestions for Anahiem
Heading to Disneyland with the family first week of May. Son's school band is playing at Disneyland and we are tagging along. Need to find a great restaurant for dinner with my wife. Nearby would be great but will travel...
Lets hear some suggestions. Cheers

There is anything and everything almost within walking distance. There's a mcormick and schicks, a Ruth's chris, and a Mortons. Of course, the best restaurant within walking distance is the new Roscoe's chicken and waffles lol. There's not a whole lot of local flavor, unless you'd be up for a drive from Disneyland

Thanks! 30 min drive would be considered OK for this venture...
Cheers

Go up to Venice and go to C&O (might be slightly more than 30 mins with traffic). I miss that place.

30 min drive opens up quite a few opportunities. Well worth it to get out of the Disney Resort area.
(My wife and I are former Cast Members) Napa Rose restaurant in Grand California hotel is good on site dining among others. The Packing District in Anaheim has recently opened. Several restaurants and local flavor. Reviews in Sunset Mag. several months back. Old Town Orange Plaza (Circle) is a short drive across Katella Ave to Glassell, then South. Citrus City Grille is nice. Many other choices. Gabby's Mexican is very popular. Plus local ambiance. Get a Gellato from Cafe Luca and walk around the Circle or up the street to the Chapman University campus. One of my personal favorites just North of the Circle is Rutabegorz. More casual dining, vegetarian focused but chicken dishes available. Been eating Ruta's food for 39 years. I'm sure others will chime in as well. Fun to see your son perform along Main Street. I have watched many a Magic Music Days performance from atop the Matterhorn. Hope you have a pleasant trip! Cooper |

If 30 is your comfort zone that opens the world, head for Newport Beach, lots of cool places, Blue Water Grill is right on the water and is a good local spot. Very close is The Canary. I like the Blue Water Grill. Years ago it was called Delaney's.

There are restaurants all over each and every direction from Disneyland. Drive down Ball Road and you will find something. I do what Dean suggested, head out to Newport or Huntington Beach. Take your pick. Most are pretty dang good. If not they can't stay in business for too long down there that's for sure.
I say eat at the restaurant inside the park that's part of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. The Blue Bayou Restaurant. Cajun food, tasty. |

It takes 30 minutes just to get past the blocks of Disneyland on Harbor. Good luck trying to get to Venice in that time. I'd allow for 1.5 hours to be safe, maybe only an hour if you start the clock outside of D-land.

Do NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT go across the street to a little place called "Captain Kidds" under any circumstances.
My review can be seen here: Not Recommended Reviews for Captain Kidd's Family Restaurant | Yelp Not to be taken lightly. Dead serious on that one. The not reccomended reviews are the most accurate.

Will the kids be with you? How old? Our kids like the Rainforest Cafe'. Fun, and the food is OK.

That's in Downtown Disney, just outside within walking distance from the park.

The Anaheim White House is an elegant place to take the wife to, Anaheim White House Restaurant Italian Steak House. My wife and I also enjoyed The Ranch, THE RANCH - Restaurant & Saloon.

I moved away many years ago but the wife and I would frequent either the Orange Mining Company or just a little further up the Orange Hill restaurant on Chapman Ave. Look them up - not too far away.

My brother gave me a gift certificate to the Manhattan Steak and Seafood restaurant for Christmas. Haven't used it yet, but looking at their web site it looks like a very nice place to eat.

If you really wanna next-level experience, try Bestia in DTLA. Just look at their yelp reviews. It's a 4.5 rating with thousands of reviews. It's 40min up the 5. Make sure to book a reservation however.
If you want to stick to OC, some fine dining/date experiences are Cucina Enoteca in Newport or Irvine, Playground in Santa Ana, or Mastro's. |
