Its a Fiat 125

Chipped, throttle cam, highflow filter in original airbox/snorkel, 14mm rear sway Hyundai Ioniq hybrid daily driver Vindicator Vulcan V8 spyder, street legal sports racing car (300hp,1400 lbs kerb weight) used for sprints on circuits, and hillclimbs |

One of the fine cars that were available to Canadians, but to USA buyers. We also had the Lada Niva, which was actually a pretty cool Suzuki Samurai-esque 4x4, we had the Hyundai Pony, and we had the Porsche 930 for a few years that is wasn't available in the US

This car is VAZ 2103 exactly. Lada for export markets and it was the second highest model. The 2106 was top of the range.

It could equally easily have been a FSO version of the 125, a particularly dreadful version.
The Lada version of the 124 was made of thicker metal than the Fiat version, had a single cam Lada motor which revved quite well but would discard its points at 7000rpm unless Loctited in place, had rear drums rather than the 124's discs. The 1200cc version( very cheap car) was raced in price bracket classes of production saloon car races in the UK, by me and others, and although it held the cornered moderately well and fitting a Fiat rear muffler released a little more power, it was outdragged by the absolutely horrible(and even cheaper) 1500cc Russian Moskvitch driven by a former Formula 1 driver who seemed to be able to corner it on the door handles. The Lada instruction book was a worthwhile read, as it didn't suggest or recommend, it ordered the owner to do certain things especially regarding laying up the car in the winter, and not to drive the car when dirty.

Lada. Russian built Fiat copy.
I've always wanted a Lada Niva. Some had a hand crank to start it. There's a lot of these driving around in Costa Rica edit: beat me to it..
