You may be able to get an iron control package to inhibit the acid attack on the lines - these are typically organic acids that coat the metal to passivity the surface temporarily. The acid eats the deposits, not your steel. We do this all the time in the oil patch - I could get you a simple and easily obtainable inhibitor if you want - pm me.
Thanks, PM sent.

Asked already in the tech forum but also want to post the question here.

Can you adequately clean fuel injectors using an ultrasonic cleaner?

My mechanic has used a device like the one posted above and said it just doesn't work and you just have to buy new injectors.

He has not tried using an Ultrasonic cleaner though.

What say you, oh mighty PPOT brain trust?

Thanks, Milt. Got an answer already over at the tech forum from Rawknees'Turbo:

ultrasonic cleaning will not work with CIS injectors, even if you are able to hold the pintle open adequately (with copper wire after pulling the pintle into the open position with plyers) because of the tiny screen that is built into the injector body. Some people have had short term success back flushing them with acetone and brake cleaner, but typically, they start performing badly again after a short length of time. The only long term option is to buy new ones (and hope that the new ones are of good quality).
I ordered 6 new ones a little while ago. One less issue to deal with now, right?
