His story being true or not is irrelevant.

wildthing 07-15-2016 03:25 PM

I took it first at face value and was going to try meet him since I'm flying in next week anyway. But then when additional facts came to light, it just doesn't make sense.

I can assure you it is not a Filipino thing.

Might be true in a few areas, or maybe in the Filipino-Chinese community. But certainly not in the circles I am in. And I am Filipino through and through.

If you are flying in, why not see if you can take a ride down to see if you find this building at the address on the website. Google says it is only 18km from the Manila airport. Should be a quick, easy run.

Well looks like the local Top Gear covered it: Angie Mead King, Marc Soong to hold fundraiser for Mick Santi on July 16 | TopGear.com.ph

Jeez. Member of Manila Sports Car Club. When the average monthly wage of regular workers is $279, you know that's a pretty exclusive club. Not making money my ass.

dewolf 07-16-2016 02:34 AM

Well he wants $50k and I offered that for a 50% stake in the business. No pm yet.

MMMickey 07-16-2016 03:52 AM

If you're serious, Dewolf. Then PM me.

Por_sha911 07-16-2016 07:53 AM

Dumb question:
How do we know that mmmickey mouse above is the actual guy that was listed in the top gear article. There are always quick thinking scam artists that setup a phony fund raisers for disaster relief or legit organizations.

I still have a problem with him begging for money here in a foreign country when he still owns a 911.

Rodsrsr 07-16-2016 10:24 AM

According to that article he actually did have insurance and enough to erect a new facility but just barely. He also owns two Jags that appear to be in reserve. (reserve not met? Im not clear on what that actually means) If its true it sounds like he's got the bulk covered by insurance, but unfortunately he will have to sell his classic cars. I think that's been the bone of contention all along. It sounds like he is starting a fundraiser to act as gap insurance so he can keep all his toys. I still think is Bullsh**t. He said he lost everythig except the clothes on his back, but he forgot about the Porsches and two Jags. Im sure he has a savings that he doesnt want to touch as well. Im changing my original assessment. I think it did happen and I dont think he's a full on scam artist, but I think he is seizing on an opportunity and is embellishing the story while omitting information. He is an opportunist.

Absolutely spot on.

Is this guy Pesto360 come back with a different MO?

Bill Douglas 07-16-2016 05:01 PM

New Zealand is the second most charitable country in the world, and we sure don't give cash to people who ask for charity when they own a Porsche they don't intend to sell.

Ok. So the money that you raised so far, would you be willing to give that to a children's charity should I come on board?

MMMickey 07-16-2016 06:43 PM

My priority is to restore jobs, Dewolf. In any case, I should thank you for helping me make noise. Even bad publicity helps spread the word.

Por_sha911 07-16-2016 07:01 PM

I love how this joker changes his story or attitude. One minute he's crying poverty, the next minute he's got a Porsche he doesn't want to sell.
One minute he is desperate for our help but they he's mocking us and saying we're a bunch of losers but we still helped his click count to his funding page (has been deleted).

If any of you could prove that I'm making this up, then all the money in the funding site if yours. If you're wrong though, what are you prepared to give? The problem with the internet is that we all hide behind our keyboards. One can make threats and call the other person names, something I doubt you guys could do in person.

What are you trying to achieve with this post? People have questioned your sincerity & integrity.

Can you not see why they would do that?

I think your priority is take to money from people because you don't want to use your own. I've had tough times in business to the point where I've had to sell things I didn't want to. Welcome to business. I would never ask for a handout without first exhausting all my resources, even then I would be extremely reluctant to accept money from people because I failed the running of the business. You failed to adequately insure your asset now you want others to pay for your mistake. I guess pride is a shallow pool in your world.

If your business case is sound, and with your long history of being in this business, the banks should be pleased to lend you all the money you need to get up and running again.

They are very good at evaluating a business case, and if they won't lend you the money it suggests the business will fall over one way or another anyway.

You berate Americans for not being charitable and say your homeland folks are better givers. GO beg from them!
