With all the Pub talk make sure don't drive after even one drink (pint). Unlike when I lived there 20 years ago, now there is zero tolerance. For example, its easy to have a drink or two over lunch and then take off to your next stop - don't. Enjoy your trip. Great advice from all so far.

if you are at the Giant's causeway, you might as well do the Bushmills tour. we only stopped there for 20 minutes or so. Really neat place. The causeway was cool too.

Hey Mike/motion how was your trip to Ireland. What were the high points and low points of the trip? Did you rent an Audi?

Mike reporting in...

I had a small Peugeot, which was perfect. I spent a week on single lane roads. The smaller the car, the better.

Ireland: Lots of surprises for me. It is quite touristy, which I didn't expect. Dublin downtown is very charming. The country as a whole is immaculate. Quite a bit of personality, unlike the UK (sorry to any Scots or Brits here).

I drove about 1500 miles in a loose circle around the island, with some detours into the interior. The fjords on the western coast were my favorite areas. Lots of old country charm and few tourists. I'm glad I did the trip.

We saw Ireland 3 years ago and loved it. The food is hearty, the people are warm and friendly and the drinks are stiff. Loved the history of the place as well. Only downside is that we were there for St Pats and it was fookin freezin!

Looks like a fun trip. Shame about the Peugeot, I got lucky and had a manual 1 series.

Ireland is one of the few places I will return to.

I could live there in a second.

It looks almost empty and foreboding in a the pics.
Feels welcoming and friendly in person.

Realy enjoyed visiting there.

Cheers Richard

A couple of months a year, for sure, in County Waterford or Wexford (the "Sunny Southeast").

All the days of the year: I love cold and blustery, rain, the whole Ireland weather fete.

If I could wear a coat year round I would be delighted

Well, if your going as far north as the Giant's Causeway, why not stop at Bushmills for a drink.

I kept telling that to myself all week! I did have one rainy day. The locals did their thing, pretending it wasn't raining. I didn't see anyone using a brolly. Funny to see people playing miniature golf in the pouring rain, pretending it isn't raining

We are definitely not brothers from another mother. I wouldn't survive a week there in the rain. I'll take Kauai over Ireland any day

My strict rule for traveling: No drinks until the car is safely parked in the car park and its past 5 PM. The last thing I need is a copper smelling something on my breath while in a different country.
