Going To The Thrift Store

I felt so depressed and old after reading the Old Man Threads on this Board. U boyz are real bummers.

So to pull myself out of a downward spiral I put on my Dragon on the azz BJ'S headed out to do some shopping at the thrift.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1473547933.jpg

And who should I run into at the Thrift but my friend Sky. If you really want to see a good pic of her you should take a look at the stuff she has done for Chanel.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1473548391.jpg

Wearing those Dragon on the azz jeans just does the trick as I dont feel so old and depressed now.

pwd72s 09-10-2016 03:54 PM

Find any shoes?

I don't think it was the jeans. ;)

I got my biker jacket from the thrift shop. GF said there was one there and I complained and squirmed and said I was very fussy about what I wanted in a jacket. She dragged me down there and it was a perfect fit/look/color/everything. AND my $45 fed a lot of cats at the Cat's Protection League thrift shop :)

SO... What happened after that? ;)

craigster59 09-10-2016 08:49 PM

Screw the shoes and the jeans, find a camera that takes pictures right side up.

If you really want someone to see her, we'll need more than 'sky' and Chanel for search terms.

Going To The Thrift Store?

Well I've never been to Spain, but I kind of like the music......

M.D. Holloway 09-11-2016 07:29 AM

She looks Hawaiian, not that there is anything wrong with that!

targa911S 09-11-2016 07:40 AM

I found a pair of $400 Nacona boots at our thrift, barely scuffed soles, for $8.00. Yes $8.00. I go there every weds. as it's seniors day and everything is half price. LL Bean, Orris,Patagonia, and other high end shirts. $3.00, $1.50 for me. Lots of stuff that still have tags. Half my closet is from the thrift.

recycled sixtie 09-11-2016 07:57 AM

Thanks for the pics of the whacky blue jeans. Now I understand how you pull in the young uns.....

Esel Mann 09-11-2016 09:39 AM

A good deal of my wardrobe is from secondhand stores. You can find unique, interesting stuff. Just like a good deal of my other purchasing is from eBay.

Otter74 09-11-2016 11:52 AM

I love thrifting. Got some terrific finds at Beacon's closet in NYC last weekend. A pair of light grey Italian leather summer shoes for $15, a new Rapha rain jacket for $25 (!!), a large Vaho shoulder bag for $16, and on and on. It was almost epic.

tabs 09-11-2016 12:30 PM

A friend scored 2 Brioni suits for $60...Those are 6k each. 3 pairs of Tom Ford shoes..1500 a pair and a pair of T Ford Croc shoes that cost 12k.

These stores can be lucrative.

tabs 09-11-2016 12:43 PM

Geez I have listed the stuff I have found for myself...9 Brioni sport shirts $6 ea...600 each at Neiman, 12 pairs of Zanella wool slacks $6 each 400 each at Neiman, 8 pairs of True Religions BJ'S $8 each.. $250 ea at the department store. Or the 55 Zegna and Brioni ties at $225 each...for $2.50 each. I was pulling so many off the rack I needed a basket. These are the big lots I have found at one time that have fit me.

tabs 09-11-2016 01:08 PM

With those Dragon jeans they are special. U might say the holy grail of denim. They cost over $1000 new, are serial numbered, Japanese selvage denim. I literally have seen 25 pairs of knock offs to every pair of real RMC denim. The Dragons are the top of his line.

RMC was real popular with the Hip Hop artists..and kicked off the embrodery of the back pocket style. They are small high quality production run jeans. So to get them for $10 in a Thrift.

jyl 09-11-2016 01:25 PM

When you buy something that cost $1000 new at a thrift for $10, what is the actual value of it?

Hard to say, unless you put it on eBay or another efficient market and see what it will actually sell for.

Almost all of the RMC's on Ebay are fake.

All this talk about shoes...
Sky has some really nice flip-flops :)

Blah blah blah. I didn't work my entire life to wear fancy clothes. I am happy in shorts, newish tee, and some comfortable flip flops. If the eating establishment is not cool with that than I don't care to spend money there. :)

You keep on thinking that and I will keep on hanging out with my friends like Sky.

I've been keeping my weight down and can comfortably fit in Levis I've had forever though I haven't worn anything but shorts in months. Last Friday they became draggin' azz jeans....1k is a bargain :(. So Tabby...when you first laid eyes on Sky, what grabbed your attention ....her flip-flops or her shoes :)?

Saw somewhere else you posted that you'd dropped a lot of weight also....kudos!!!

Last year I got a great pair of over-sized striped chef's pants that I rolled the cuffs up and used as part of my pirate costume for Halloween. Aye Matey

You mean Sky in the photo, wearing shorts, tee, and flops ;)

I actually have to dress up now and then - which is fun on occasion only. Here is a picture of my wife and I at the recent wedding of our niece. Fun evening out.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1473701337.jpg

That said with the money I spent recently on a suit and the outfit pictured I should have hit up one of your thrift shops. Until this wedding event I have not spent money on dress clothes for 10+ years. Life in SoCal :)

creaturecat 09-12-2016 11:51 AM

did you walk there? in repurposed dead-guy shoes? just curious. that is all.

Brown shoes REALLY?

Yes you could of bought some really nice QUALITY stuff at a Thrift for the cost of the shirt.

QUALITY COSTS MONEY...except when you find it at a Thrift.

For instance Zanella Italian wool slacks are exceptional quality and they are reasonably expensive at $300 up. Quality cloths also fit better as they don't scrimp in the cutting of and quality of the material. Further the attention to detail in the fit and finish is exceptional. You look and feel better in Zanella's than in Haggars.

To be honest most people dress like bums.

Dressing well does not necessarily mean dressing up, you can dress up or you can dress down to the grunge...but the key is to do it well, that means paying attention to detail and colours.

Women notice how you dress.

"Cheap is small and not too steep
But best of all cheap is cheap
Circumstance has forced my hand
To be a cut price person in a low budget land
Times are hard but we'll all survive
I just got to learn to economize

I'm on a low budget
I'm on a low budget
I'm not cheap, you understand
I'm just a cut price person in a low budget land
Excuse my shoes they don't quite fit
They're a special offer and they hurt me a bit
Even my trousers are giving me pain
They were reduced in a sale so I shouldn't complain
They squeeze me so tight so I can't take no more
They're size 28 but I take 34

I'm shopping at Woolworth and low discount stores
I'm dropping my standards so that I can buy more

I'm on a low budget
What did you say
I'm on a low budget
I thought you said that
I'm on a low budget
I'm a cut price person in a low budget land"
