Share your thoughts and opinions on a 2.7 Ecoboost F150

The good? the bad? The ugly?

I don't need a huge towing capacity, so this looks like a really good engine choice.

I have one - really love it - I'm averaging around 21 combined mileage - on the recent highway trip was around 28 mpg. The 2.7 is no slouch either it gets up and goes when needed.

The only detraction that I have is the stupid auto start/stop that you have to deactivate by pushing a button (everytime) at a stoplight, the engine shuts off to conserve fuel - it also shuts off the AC (which is Florida, in the summertime, is pretty stupid)

Other than that - It's been great/ I have the Lariat - SuperCrew cab - 2 wheel drive - but I did get the towing package so I could tow the boat.

Can't speak for the 2.7, but I have one with the 3.5 Ecoboost and love it.

Buddy has one and put about 12K on it so far. It's been flawless.

What turned me off during test drive was it hunting gears and the transformers interior design. Also, not living up to the MPG promise in reviews. I bought the Ecodiesel RAM. Comparison shop one ...

2015 Ford F-150 2.7L EcoBoost vs Ram 1500 EcoDiesel - AutoGuide.com News

If I'd go with the 2.7 Ford, I'd wait for the 10 speed auto rumored to come out next year.

When i do the aluminum body, it will be the revised 3.5 with 10 speed. Probably next year this time.

I bought a 2016 F150 XLT 4x4 with the 2.7 Ecoboost back in April. I absolutely love it.
My MPG is more than advertised. The ride is phenomenal. Acceleration is the quickest(0-60) of any motor offered in the F150. I do agree that the auto-shutoff is a nuisance. You should be able to force it off or on and have it stay that way.
I really like the interior. Sync3 is awesome. The ride is extremely quiet.

We did it! 2.7 Ecoboost Supercrew 4x4, Ingot Silver, with the Sport Appearrance package. The only thing that makes it look any different than the thousands of others that I see is that I had them remove the Sport decals on the back.

It is a good colour match for my M3

Thanks for all the advice.

Congrats!

what by buddy has but in that Crimson Red, exactly. 20" wheels, sliding rear glass supercrew. It's a cool truck.

The 1st time I seen him drive by was kind of a trip- the exhaust note doesn't belong to that truck

Check this out: Using an illuminated tow hitch cover allegedly disables auto stop- truck thinks it's towing so it disables the feature- you can also jumper the button in the console:
Stop/Start Disable

When I pick one of these up, I'll have that hitch cover. For sure.

I don't mind the start/stop. I am running the real time fuel guage, and I get a thrill every time the fuel usage drops to zero at lights. Gas is pricey here . . .

However, for all my life my fear has been a dead car at an intersection. So the shut down does get my heart pumping

The ten speed is delayed. There is at least one serious issue. My NDA prevents me from discussing it, but there are some technical issues.

After 200 kms we are averaging just under 12l/100 km. On the 401 at 100km we got that down to 8.9l/100k. At a more realistic 120 km we were seeing about 9.5l/100k. That beats any other car I currently own. I "hyper-miled " on a two lane highway on the way to the cottage,, and saw 8.5l per 100k.

That's better than 27 miles per gallon. 24 to 25 should be easy , as long as I stay out of boost.

The exhaust note sucks. The interior is huge. This new dangled Sync3 is uncharted territory for me. I thought the trip computer in the E46 was "high tech".

I put a high flow downpipe with high flow cats on my 3.5EB equipped truck and it gave me a nice turbo whistle. Along with about 2MPG and 80 HP.
