also think it would be recorded because then it turns into "he said she said".

sounds like the dude got nailed.

Not so sure. If the government compelled him under threat, it is entrapment. If they simply offered services and he accepted, legal arrest.

Quote:

Entrapment defenses in the United States has evolved mainly through case law. Two competing tests exist for determining whether entrapment has taken place, known as the "subjective" and "objective" tests. The "subjective" test looks at the defendant's state of mind; entrapment can be claimed if the defendant had no "predisposition" to commit the crime. The "objective" test looks instead at the government's conduct; entrapment occurs when the actions of government officers would usually have caused a normally law-abiding person to commit a crime
If the situation occurred as he stated, and no money had changed hands, I expect he should be clear from prosecution, and could file charges against the officers for false arrest.

A lady friends ex husband was arrested for solicitation. He told her about it before she read about it in the paper. He was convicted of solicitation of a male prostitute. Marriage ended badly.

HardDrive 09-26-2016 02:26 PM

Carl's lying.

Shaun @ Tru6 09-26-2016 02:35 PM

why would anyone believe Carl?! Is that the best story he could come up with? Seriously.

RKDinOKC 09-26-2016 04:30 PM

Just doesn't sound right to me. Carl just happens to be getting gas where they a doing a sting. Jokingly agrees then tries to drive away. AND is taken to where a bunch of guy's like him are being processed. Just doesn't sound right.

My guess is after agreeing however that actually went down, then he is immediately shown a badge, told of his arrest, and told exactly where to go to be processed. That's the way the stings around here go down.

I used to work in commercial HVAC. Every once in a while I would get a service call at a rub and tug. They were pretty nice inside and clean. They had cameras EVERYWHERE.
One Sunday the place was packed. A bunch of guys waiting. They were dressed like they were coming or going to the golf course. When they saw me they all looked guilty of something.SmileWavy

Carl shouldn't have responded to that Craigslist "casual encounters" ad, lol...

I'm surprised it's illegal there. Around here it's two girls for the price of one on Mondays.

(borderline parf but)

Prostitution laws:
1). Makes a certain type of small business not legal at all.
It places the government between two parties doing business.
Meanwhile virtual recordings of others doing the same (porn) remain legal.

Call your representative and buy a permit before engaging in illegal snu-snu.
Same goes for buying a date dinner or gifts.

2). Creates a psychological fear and shaming in males that a natural consensual sexual act is against the law, and that our minds/bodies are wrong.
(muh CISgender rights and damages)

3). Enables the government to advertise and publicly promote an illegal act, which it itself deems illegal.

4). Neutralizes alimony laws. Unless some other explanation and evidence can be procured by the spouse to prove monetary contribution or personal losses during a past partnership, alimony essentially is a pay-off for past sex acts provided by one partner. Legalized prostitution as determined by the government.

Doesn't money have to change hands?

It probably depends on the jurisdiction. I wonder if just negotiating the exchange is enough?

A quick internet search can identify local solicitation stings in your area. Maybe you will see "Carl".

onewhippedpuppy 09-27-2016 06:09 AM

I think Carl needs to work on his storytelling.

Chocaholic 09-27-2016 06:26 AM

Not sure why this is even a discussion. Carl got popped buying a BJ. Dumass! If his wife believes him, she's dummer than Dipso!

RKDinOKC 09-27-2016 06:36 AM

Maybe she's okay with getting BJs somewhere else so she doesn't have to.

I took a peek a local news report on a sting done on the 23rd. They showed pics from the six men arrested but none were 'Carl'.

I haven't gotten anymore details except Carl intends to fight it. He may rethink if there is video/audio.

I suspect he is lion.

hahahaha! That about sums it up.

Well, this certainly puts an end to me going inside the convenience store and buying a snickers bar while telling the clerk "I'm not feeling myself!"

Or what if Carl was confronted by Neil Patrick Harris offering to "flip his meat" for a beer?

Seriously, I was flipping channels the other night and watched a bit of a show called "Sex Slaves" I think on MSNBC or the sorts. They were busting johns left and right. Some old woman, rather Clintonesque looking, says that the new tactic to reduce human trafficking/prostitution is to go after the johns. It's the johns that need to be educated. Ok, lets figure this out. It costs time and money to bust and house the prostitutes, even for just a night. The City/community makes money by busting the johns and letting them go for the night. Not that hard to figure out where society is heading.

There is no serious intention to stop prostitution. If there were, the penalties would be draconian. Having your name in the police blotter, maybe paying a small fine, is not going to stop a single hooker or madame, and there will always be more johns in the waiting. I think they just do these stings for PR reasons. If there is serious human trafficking going on, then putting someone away for a 30 yr. mandatory minimum might send a message. But they don't do that either. It's just more meaningless, profit-driven, over-criminalization of an otherwise transaction between consenting adults.

I noticed the other day while perusing the "I need a new bed" thread that there was a banner ad for mattresses. Funny how that works.
