Picked up for Solicitation

My wife's friends husband whom I shall refer to as Carl was arrested over the weekend for solicitation of a prostitute.

His story as told to his wife and then relayed to mine goes like this.

He was in a convenience store parking lot putting gas into his work truck. He owns an exterminator company. A woman approaches and asks if he would like something for 40$ and to meet him behind the store. His reply was "Sure, whatever" meant as a sarcastic response. He got into his truck without going to the back of the store. He then was stopped by uniformed cops as he was driving away and arrested for solicitation.

He was brought to the back of the store where there were about 10 other men being processed for similar charges. A night in jail and a marriage on the brink.

My wife called a friend of ours in law enforcement and ran the story by him. He says that recordings are usually made of this sort of sting and possibly video evidence. The arrest was made possibly because Carl did not respond in a negative manner to the solicitation. His intent was not clear.

Carls wife would like to believe him but he has done stupid stuff before. Usually not involving prostitutes but has been know not to come home till early morning when out with the boys. He has curbed this behaviour in the past 2 years.
Carl also has erectile dysfunction so spontaneous action is not his forte.

What do you think great minds of PPOT. Any experience with this matter?

These types of stings are becoming more common now with the spotlight on sex trafficking and the explosion of Chinese massage parlors staffed with indentured servants.

The one thing going against "Carl" is that cops don't like false arrest lawsuits. My guess is there was at least a audio recording of the encounter. odds have it "Carl" F#@K'd up. Considering his past behavior, this might be the last straw with his wife.

If the girl made the offer that is entrapment.
also think it would be recorded because then it turns into "he said she said".

sounds like the dude got nailed.

Never been to one of those parlors, and have no desire to, but how to do people set foot in those? Between the nasty stuff in there and the distinct possibility of it being a sting operation, I would be too nervous.

I'd have to agree, if it went down like Carl says it did, with recording and all, then I cannot see a jury of peers even considering it to be "without a reasonable doubt". I wouldn't think a grand jury would even let that enter the courtroom.

A friend I got stuck in SFO several years ago and put up in a hotel by UA. Walking across the street to Gulliver's for some Prime Rib we had a hooker pull up to us in a Lexus and ask us if we were looking for a good time. I said no thanks, at the same time my friend said very enthusiastically "how much?"
He was clearly joking. After some small talk and a few laughs we went on our way. Point is, I could not imagine being arrested in that situation.

That would be one successful hooker. So is this a misdemeanor? Its not a felony, I think so there is no grand jury. Not a violation of a federal law.

I think Carl needs a good lawyer.

Maybe two SmileWavy

Right red, probably two.

Immoral of the story, state loudly and clearly into the microphone your intentions if approached.

One of my dad's friends got picked up for solicitation. He was 85 at the time. His wife had died many years before and he really did not care if anyone knew about it. 85, single on on the prowl and he was not ashamed. The judge let him off with a promise not to look for hookers again.

I personally don't see how that could hold up in court, if the story is accurate depiction of the conversation.

Got arrested for getting in his truck and trying to leave...that's not how these go down. You can likely bet the police evidence will be showing 'ole Carl in a different predicament than described to wife.

Good luck Carl!

I actually go to two: Long story but one of the ladies I went to in a legit place asked me if I was interested in seeing her off-site, no funny business or happy ending, just the same basic one hour massage, even after the tip, at about $40 scooters less. She makes more, I pay less.

So I do, twice a month, have for almost six years. I often have to go to the second place based on her schedule. She is amazing and knows exactly what, after years of working with me on pain and arthritis before I had my left hip replaced, what works on the right hip and my back. The key for me is that this woman has seen more pipe than a Texas Oilman so there is zero issue with getting to the hip joint. I feel very comfortable as is she.

BTW, the rub and tug joint has better tables than the spa I first met the woman I go to. On par with cleanliness as well.

My wife knows, my kids know, I think my dogs know.

If the place(s) get raided I'll call the Wife.

Concerning Carl? There is video and recordings of his every utterance and movement. It is up to him if he wants his wife to see it.

Wonder who'll have the best version to tell :).
....with mugshot pics or it didn't happen!

If this really went down like Carl's version, then he would have a false arrest suit. That's totally entrapment.

tabs 09-26-2016 11:01 AM

Carl is a lying piece of excrement. Besides being stupid.

Now the randy old guy I like. Maybe he should have asked the judge where he was getting his.

If I get popped, I will be happy to share:cool:

I mean that. I actually got a sweater last year at Christmas from the Mamasan at place 1.

BTW the woman I go to, she is in her 40's, makes great money and is not indentured in any way. I asked when she offered the better deal for her at the legit place. We talk a lot.

Rick Lee 09-26-2016 11:12 AM

There are tons of indentured servants working outside the shadows, in ethnic restaurants, bars, hair and nail salons and in plenty of white collar jobs where an H1B is held over their heads.

1990C4S 09-26-2016 11:43 AM

If the charges are dropped Carl was telling the truth...if not, there was small talk and the hint of an offer, and a real indication he accepted, or he made a counter-offer...

I'm guessing he's guilty and he is not being truthful about what the woman said, or about his reply.

'I had no Viagra with me' is a poor defense.

Any pictures of her?
