If it was modified, with serious power, it's possible. HIGHLY UNLIKELY, but very slightly possible.
Way back in the day, I was a member of Rennlist (email list, not bulletin board). I'm pretty sure it was one of the guys from Imagine Auto that told the story that some cop had busted him for speeding in his Porsche, but wrote that he was going 240mph. When he got to court he had the numbers of gearing etc... to show that 240 was absolutely not possible in his car on this planet. The ticket was thrown out.

IF the Mustang could actually go that fast. The cop car, even if it was a Dodge Charger (a lot in OKC are), could not accelerate quick enough to keep the Mustang from getting out of radar range.

Then it would take so long for it to get up to the speed limit, let alone any sort of pursuit speed that the perpetrator would be long gone.
Bet they didn't give em a speeding ticket so he wouldn't have it to frame and hang in the garage.

I was thinking it was him, but I wasn't sure. Wasn't there another guy, maybe named Michael that was a big part of IA with Stephen?

I don't think stock gearing would get him there regardless of the power he has.

were also options). The 6th gear in the stock 6 speed transmission is .65:1 which gives a final gear ratio of 2.15:1. (all from Internet searchs) With that gearing, if you had whatever power was required to push past the aero, and the suspension and tires and place to do it, theoretically, the mustang should top out at about 265mph. (using 3 different calculators from the 'Net). So, stock gearing could theoretically get you well over 208. I went ahead and did the calcs for 3.55 and 3.73 rear gears too. 245mph - 3.55 in 6th at redline 234mph - 3.73 in 6th at redline. If he had 4.10:1 aftermarket rear gears swapped in, his theoretical top speed in 6th gear at redline would be 212mph.

My experiences has been that at about 110mph is usually when the aerodynamics of and automobile starts effecting how much horsepower is required to increase speed. It is not really just gearing that limits the higher speeds.
In discussions of how fast car go I've heard people quote the gearing top speeds. I then asked them how fast they driven the car. It was usually much lower than their quoted top speed. When I asked why they usually say they were afraid for on reason or another to take it any faster. Tell them the fastest speed their car goes is the fastest speed they are willing to drive it. For example years ago when I still had the immortality of youth I had a BoxsterS. Porsche quoted it's top speed at 168mph. Over 125 it started getting twitchy and at 140 it was down right scary enough so I would NOT even attempt to drive it any faster. So despite the factory quoted top speed of 168 the actual top speed was 140.

My old '88 targa did once hit redline in 5th gear which should be around 150mph. It was a little floaty. It was running on good, but old shocks and had a front but no rear spoiler which wasn't ideal. I haven't yet had or taken the opportunity to test the Boxster. I think I've been in the 130-140mph range, but can't remember exactly. I'm usually either on roads in town or have the missus along. Neither of those factors are conducive of high speed runs. My car's got the PASM suspension and supposedly tops out at 170 or 171. I'd like to try it sometime, but who knows when/if I'll ever get the chance.
