I'd rather walk than listen anyone talk on a commercial flight that doesn't work for the airline.

I vote a big HELL NO.
I do a lot of travel for work and I already see a lot of people on each flight totally ignoring the FA's when they are told to turn off their phones and/or end their calls. More times than I can count I see people answer their phones on approach and start having loud conversations. Not only would it be incredibly annoying, it would also be a major safety issue. Imagine an emergency on the plane and everyone whipping out their phones trying to call family or friends. I'm sure there would be an off switch to the cell service, but I would venture to guess people would start *****ing because they have to call people to tell them about the emergency. Really don't need those kind of issues when everyone needs to sit down, shut up and listen to the FA's. One of my flights last month I sat next to a FA on her way to work. Her and everyone she knows wants in seat shocking devices so when people don't listen to them to get off their phones, they can select the seat and give them a reminder. |

Not no, but HELL NO! Though I have to wonder, if everyone here is so against it, where do these iZombies come from who have to be on their phone all the time? We all see them every day, yet none of us seem to be them. I think the majority of people I encounter every day are staring at their phones or talking on them. 100% of pedestrians in a crosswalk stare at their phones while walking, many people I see on bicycles, usually riding at night, in dark clothes, against traffic and with no light other than their phone display and on and on. I just don't get the fascination with being on the phone or staring at it.
I hate flying with a raging passion even when everyone is well behaved and I'm next to a petite, hot girl. I can't imagine how much worse the experience would be with in-flight cell phone calls allowed. BTW, I hate everyone.

The cellular industry wants you on your phone as much as possible. They've been pressuring the feds since day one to allow phone use on airliners. Safety does not come first, making money does.

If they do allow phone calls I will bet some comic for some good subject matter. Have an app that prompts you to reply to app in a loud voice about the hemorrhoids and toenail fungus you have been fighting on grandma and how her incontinence is bad and full descriptions on smells and texture. Something to really gross out some blowhard sitting next to you blathering on about the recent operation they had.
I really hope they keep the cabin quite and phone call free.

From a guy who flies 300 plus flights a year, I say please dear god "NO!"
Just yesterday I was in DC and the lady beside me went into great detail about her yeast infection. Not even trying to speak softly. People have zero respect for other people in this world. They have no concept of personal space, swear in front of children and after flying around people who don't bathe, can't get out of their pajamas, the last thing we need for them is to be able to blab for 5 hours straight on an airplane. I guarantee you that we will have plenty of diversions to kick people off flights for those losing their tempers. Let's create a pleasant environment. Not a stressful one.

Eeeeeeeeeewwwwwww..... Hope you couldn't smell it!
I totally agree, people at too inconsiderate for cell phones on a plane, please no. Maybe I am in the minority here, but I fly often and similar to when I am on the motorcycle, I enjoy the disconnected time. I have voicemail, that works just fine for the time I turn my phone off. |
