Mark Minkoff
Hello, I am Sherry Minkoff, wife of deceased Mark Minkoff. I once in a blue moon get random emails, posts regarding Mark. I would like to update his racing buddies. I have two grandchildren and another on the way. Mark would have loved his grandkids!
Thank you for all of your condolences. His race cars were sold years ago, but my daughter has kept many items from his racing years and has paid tribute to her dads racing decorating her sons nursery with many items from her father. The “show” cars are still in the family. Mark and my cars were sold and I have been told the Nascar is on the track again. Once again, after all the years a random post was brought to my attention. Sincerely, Sherry Minkoff |

Sherry that was a beautiful post... thank you! I hope time has eased the pain of losing Mark. This board can be "cruel" at times, but is full of good, well intentioned people.... so Mark fit right in
.N!... made one of the meanest, nastiest posts I've ever read here during one of his drunken rants....about a child with down syndrome at that. I didn't give a rip about his "lifestyle", but I will never forget that post and I condemned him for it. He had "issues" .

Aloha Sherry, thanks for touching in with your positive update!
Mark was definitely part of the ohana here on pelican, so it's good hearing that his family is doing well. Glad for you to know that we think of him here from time to time. Take care. Cheers Richard |

Sherry, I don't know if you followed Mark's musings here about his adventures but he certainly was always very complimentary about you. He shared a lot pics of you and his mom from BBQing in the back yard to Cars and Coffee outings with one or more of the cars.
He had an interesting life. I met him just once when buying some parts from him and that was like in 2004. Here is the post: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/183735-spent-morning-carl-thompson-lots-photos.html He doesn't mention the parts because they were insignificant in the context of things. A pair of megaphone exhausts that ended up welded to a Ben muffler for the Ragamuffin. |

Sherry, thanks for checking in here. For me, personally, it is a testament to Mark that you would honor us with a short note. Keep in touch. Let us know if the Grand Kids go Porsche.

Reading between the lines I thought there was serious personal angst going on there. Hence self death. But I do not know. Never the less, he was a dynamic figure who made an impression upon all here. A valuable contributor to the boards and a brethren of the sport. Thank you for the update.

Sherry - Great to hear from you. I loved following Marks adventures. He enjoyed his home and family for sure. I saw the wedding pictures on his FB shortly before he passed in 2015. You have a lovely family.

I agree Mark was a great contributor, gear head and loved to share.
He certainly left behind a legacy and is missed. Boat drinks Mark!

I remember that he was doing, (and documenting), an absolutely *cost no object* restoration of an early 911S targa when he died. Maybe a '69? I always wondered what happened to that car, there are a lot of posts from him about it on this board. Some people gave him a hard time about posting in OT instead of the tech board.
I regret the exchanges on the Ferrari thread but I actually had some pleasant ones w him as well here...I remember posts about his '53 Ford PU truck, which is a vehicle I've always liked. RIP.

I remember when I first heard about this. Went straight over and played with my grand kids.
Still think about it, because he was so young when he passed and was just a bit older than me. I never met the man, aside from stuff here, and I think about him every June, how strange is that?

I knew Mark and was a friend of Don (his dad) in the mid seventies. Mark had a cool Alfa back then, he just a few years younger than me. Don was a mentor to me and anyone that thinks Don Minkoff had anything given to him is a dreamer. He life was the epitome of the American dream and he earned it. Super family, all of them, I think Mark had two sisters. I spent time with Don doing real estate deals and helping him buy and restore cars. At my ripe age of 20ish I can honestly say Don was instrumental in providing the motivation a kid needed to shoot for the stars. He was that mentor for me. This was a blow to hear about Mark and also that Don had passed. RIP
