Claim insurance or not?
Driving home late last night from the hospital after visiting my father. I hit something black, plastic like thing on the fwy doing about 75 in my S2000. I just couldn't see that damn thing until it was too late. The wheel picked it up and tore off my fender liner, ripped up the HID headlight, some wiring and Yanked all the attaching points from the bumper and then some. Now there are big holes in the back side of my bumper. I am not sure how much this will cost to repair, but I am thinking about making a claim since I have not had a claim with them for a loooong time. One thing is that I don't want my rates to go up if I had to cough up a 1000 bucks. My deductible is $1000. My biggest concern is my rate going up on all my cars. What do you think?

You did say that it was MOVING when you hit it, right?

Goes under Comprehensive not collision. Like hitting a deer. It shouldn't affect your rates.
The deductible may also be different.

Yea claim it. It was road debris and nothing like hitting another vehicle. I think you will be surprised how much it cost to fix.

I don't think so. It'll go under collision. Can you talk to an agent or do you have to talk to the company? I think if they jack up your rates, you can switch to another company.

You don't have an agent? I can call my agent on something like this and she will tell me if my rates will go up or not and by how much. I would first talk to the agent.

I have AAA and that damn agent is worthless. he's only there if I was to write other then that, he is no where to be found. I liked my State Fram agent so much better but their rates were 1000 bucks more per year just on the cars.
I will try him again, thanks. I am always worry that they will lie because there's no skin off their backs as long you are paid up for the repairs and happy so you will renew with him for the coming year. |
