I think I will try SeaMonkey on my XP partition. I almost never go on line with Windows but I will give it a try.

We see classic cars on the road in the summer time, why not classic computer operating systems surfing the Internet?

I need historic plates for my computer, maybe Hagerty will insure it.

I installed SeaMonkey and clicked around a bit. Watched a youtube video. Seemed good. So far I did not see a way to import favorites and stuff. Since I dont remember all my passwords I am back on my linux now.

The computer I am typing this on is from 2004. It has been bullet proof and just keeps running. We have one system around here still running Win 2000 Pro.

The laptop Im on is from 2005. With linux there is no need for antivirus or constant updates to slow it down. If not for my auto scanning and tuning programs, I'd have no use for Windows at all.

Sure as hell hope you jokers don't do online banking with those dinosaurs.

What is a Builder DVD? I have a great computer running Vista 64 bit with 8 gig memory and a decent hard drive. Can I just wipe the hard drive and install from scratch?

I dont know what a builder DVD is, but if its a full version of Win 7 it should work. You dont need to wipe hard drive. I think you can put it in the DVD and restart and it will go to an install menu. This would be a better way. You may need to manually search on web for a driver for something, but the DVD should install.

I would do the install "off-line" and be sure to turn off any auto updates before going inline. Otherwise it will nag you to eternity about upgrading to Win10.

Also, the standard stuff; back up all your documents, shortcuts, programs, etc.

Why people choosing to use long-discontinued, no longer supported operating systems expect to have up-to-date, actively-supported applications running on those OS'es is a mystery.

I don't suppose this can be installed on a 32 bit CPU...can it?

If you are open to linux, download LiLI. (google it). You can burn the Linux to a flash drive and boot from it. Lots of versions out there.(Distrowatch.com) FREE. Find one you like and install . Mint is a lot like Windows and easy to learn. Does way more than I need. Tahrpup is perfect in my opinion.

I loaded Opera on my Momz brick. She gets a new IBM in July for her birthday. Opera does the job for her....
