I don't think a 914-6 with original engine and transmission will fetch $90K. I am sure it is a better car than a standard 914-6, but that doesn't mean it will price up.

Go to the 914World and get into a discussion on the real value.

7 years ago I sold my 914-6 with original engine (upgraded to 2.7 Nikasil - RS spec with 2.4 crank and rods, rebuilt correctly to last!), original transmission converted to side-shift, and passenger seat upgraded to movable. Externally, it was pristine and free from rust. Not concourse, but very nice looking original car with reasonable upgrades. It sold for $25K.

While I think the market for my old car *might* but up to $50K today, I don't think a car with replaced engine and transmission, plus needing work, will go for $50K.

I don't know what values have done in the last year or so but mine brought just under $100k.

I don't think it is a 914-6 from the factory. That makes it a replica/conversion/tribute... whatever you want to call it.
-Do research and see what other conversions have been bringing in the last 12 months. Have them ready to show.
-Prep it as if you were going to enter it in a concours. I wouldn't fix little dents and dings. They show that the car is not hiding bad repairs or major problems under fresh paint.
-Pull together ALL your documentation in one organized way.
-Start with a price that is a higher than what you'll take. Everyone wants to think they got a "good deal" by negotiating.
-Find out what it takes to sell long distance or even overseas. Buyers in other countries were paying much more than in the USA at one point.

Have you considered taking it to Hershey next month?

On a related note, do flared fenders ding the value of an original 914-6 or is it such a desirable mod that values hold strong? :cool:

It was in very good condition, almost what I'd consider restored, but not to concours condition. Not completely stock, either. 2.2 S pistons, E cams. Deep 6 wheels, S front calipers, vented rear discs, Konis, RSR style steering wheel, space saver spare tire. Lots of owners, but records from most of them and numbers matching.

I've got a bone stock 914-6. It had a re-paint at some point before I got it, numbers matching engine and trans, original pristine spare Marelli distributor new in the box, Weber carbs, but the window washer stickers on the 911 looking steering column shroud are not period correct, nor are the tires or plastic center inserts in the dash switches. Otherwise, it is very original. I would guess it would be worth around $50K in a quick sale, or nearly $60-70K if someone really wanted it. It's not for sale. I would guess the OPs 914-6 to be worth probably close to that, maybe a touch less due to mods, but closer if done well.

With the prices being thrown around in this thread, I'd suggest you market it with a mask and a gun.

when I was looking for my 930 I HATED going to places like photobucket. lots of adds and slow and it was just a pain for me. like things simple so make it simple for those looking at a hi $$$ car.

I sold my 77 really fast, lots of pics of everthing. even under the car and inside the fender wells.

Well I pulled the trigger. I placed an ad in Pelican's classified forum and an ad in the 914 World classifieds. Besides the description, I included links to 2 Youtube videos.
I will take the car to Hershey if it does not sell by next week.
