Maybe I'm too nice of a person but I would NEVER even consider driving a customer's car off the property, regardless of the reason, especially something like a GT-3RS.

Smart or nice, might be the same thing. I would wait for the customer to show up and go on the test ride together.

Not like it was a troubleshooting type repair where several road tests would be needed to determine if the problem was fixed.

In 1972 or so I took the now sold Aston Martin DB4 to a shop for a front end alignment, the owner took it out for a 'Test Drive" afterwards and got pulled over and had it towed by the Oak Ridge, TN police for doing 125 mph. Only time the car was ever on the tow hook.

I hope that the shop loses all of its business immediately and goes BK. What a POS.

I agree. 100% unacceptable. No excuse to EVER drive a customer car at more than a leisurely pace. If the tires are leaving marks on the road they are pushing way way to hard for a test drive.

Wonder if the shop has the balls to give him a bill for work done.

I won't sit in the driver's seat of a car I'm not willing to write a check for.

A 'real' shop would have Dyno'd the car before and after.

Well devil's advocate perhaps, but it's called "Bob Hindson Racing", not "Bob Hindson drives like your granny"..

Well, I guess if the owner of the car had given him permission to take it out on the track for a ringer lap and he spun it, you'd have a point.

$hit happens

sucks. been there done that..... except mine was a 74 911s worth a tenth of a gt3rs and it was a drunk guy named "Bud" at a shady paint shop. Insurance should smooth it over and the guy will be smiling while shopping for his new porsche in a matter of months.

I wouldn't have thought this happened very often...until last month. My Turbo went to the body shop after I hit the car battery on the freeway. I know it went there with almost a full tank of gas. I picked it up with 1/4 tank. I checked the paperwork when I dropped it off. They put almost 80 miles on it! When confronted, they said it went back and forth to the Porsche dealership several times and there were a couple test drives to make sure everything was OK. 80 miles? That's BS!

My roommate second year of college had a 1987 Trans Am. It was a nice car at the time for a college freshmen (his first year). He said that when he would take it anywhere for anything, he would tape a note to the steering wheel with the mileage and some sort of note about it. He was from NJ, and from what I remember, the text of the note was a little obnoxious. I always figured he was just asking for trouble, but at the same time, he may have also been preventing some trouble.

I drive customers cars all the time. I feel that I have to , as a means to safety check everything, and make sure my work , works.
I have been able to drive some really cool cars over the years. That being said, I really hate driving peoples nice cars . I always have that pucker factor, "what if"
I would never go out and abuse a customers car without, either their permission, or them being present .
I know when something is special, and try to treat it that way .
We had a guy a few summers ago toss my dad and I the keys to his 575 , and told us to make sure we drove it and got on it a little bit . He left it with us for a few days That was awesome, but , I kept it short and sweet. My insurance man would hate me ....
