Joining the Duc 900SS club
If all goes as expected, I'll be bringing her home tomorrow. Buying from an ADVrider inmate who has owned it since 1998. It's an SS/CR with 11k on the odo. He's a meticulous owner, has two exhaust systems,Corbin and stock seats, heli-bars no frame cracks ever (I'll verify) and fresh belts, oil, tires, 3M clear film under tank bra, etc.
I know there are several 900SS guys here and I'm sure I'll have questions. For now, I'm counting on bringing her home tomorrow. Updates to follow: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1494696516.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1494696551.jpg |
Very nice Mike.....Never owned a Ducati, but on my list for sure....

Nice!
If anyone's interested I'm considering getting out of the club for an outrageous price. Fast by Ferracci HC 944 kit, ported and polished heads, ECU reflash! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1494701095.jpg |
ECU reflash?

Did they lubricate the plasma reciprocating dingle arm when they flashed the ECU? They really should be done at the same time.

Took the beast out for a rip around the pea patch this morning.

She's home! Just got back from an inaugural ride. Poor (very) mans Ferrari. Snarls, grunts, lunges...awesome.

Fantastic! I'd like to scratch the same itch at some point. They're getting up there age wise but most seem to be well cared for. Good luck with it!

Great to see a fella realizing his dream!!

Congrats on the purchase.
My oldest vintage Duc is 7 years old. No experience on the SuperSports. I'll probably get there one day. They don't come up for sale often in these parts. |
Mike - I assume the 1200RT is gone and wife not riding at all anymore?
|
Yes, sold the RT to a local retiree who had been looking for a pre-WC version. Perfect bike for him.
|
Lovely, Mike. Congratulations!
. An aside: Every time I see a bike loaded up & strapped down w/o a Canyon Dancer I wonder why. I have two and they're a great item to have...super secure. . Again, Congrats. . https://www.amazon.com/Canyon-Dancer-32505-Bar-Harness-Handlebars/dp/B0013LF3ES . <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3L_21Jlu_Qg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Just ordered new brake clutch reservoir bladders...2 weeks from Italy. |
900 ss cr is a good scoot. lacks the sp fork but that may not be important to you.
for just a bit more money you could buy my 916. a bit more than that you could buy my 748 sp. a bit more than that and you get my 888. please buy one of my bikes:( |

A bike that Ducati is now offering? |
Added a bit of bling yesterday by bringing that dry clutch out in the daylight. Bunch of maintenance done (clutch, brake flush, oil, fuel filter, etc) and installed a full spaghetti system with CF cans. Have never owned a bike that is this much fun to ride.

Now, that's funny! Haven't quite had that experience but I'm sure it's just a matter of time .
I honestly don't know who made the exhaust. It came with the bike in a separate box with essentially no labeling (hanger brackets say Force-G on them) on the headers or the CF mufflers. The header pipes are slightly larger in diameter than the stock system and there's less restriction where the pipes come together... and the airbox is opened (no snorkels). It was running rich with the stock setup and choppy at low rpm's. I ran some Seafoam through it, changed the plugs and installed the spaghetti system at the same time. I suspect this is what the carbs were jetted for. No more black plugs and it goes like stink. Still a bit choppy at lower rpm's but much better than it was. I suspect some of that is the nature of the beast. As stated above, the way it makes power is just intoxicating. My Triumph Bonnie was a 900 also, but a complete bore to ride by comparison. This bike is torquey as heck and a riot to ride. Brakes are like the hand of God himself. Love love love this bike! |
not sure that is a full spag system. I have a full termi spag on my 888...it is quite a bundle of snakes for a twin.
looks like a giacomoto exhaust which is quite nice nonetheless. |
