Thanks Tabs, but I'll take a gas station coffee over an espresso. As for the kegerator, it gets plenty of use.;)

Thanks to everyone else for the compliments. We have now remodeled every room of this house, along with a roof, windows, paint, driveway repair, adding a 3rd car garage, growing and covering our deck, landscaping, etc. I'm not moving unless I leave town, and the next house I buy will be DONE before I move in!

Very nice!
I like the very simple shaker style of doors and drawers on the cabinetry.
Classic and timeless.

I like the stools.

Our kitchen is the focal point of our house, the core to everything.

Lots of stools.

Well done!

Look's great, however, Your never done. At least not my wife. I've had several custom built houses and the wife still wanted changes after a couple of years. She watches those shows on HGTV and lookes at Pinterest and the next thing you know she's wanting to change things.

And now your wife knows you can do it so your really screwed. But again, it lookes really nice.

And the phone # for your local AA chapter is 316 265 6761......

The reason why they call it "gas station coffee" is that it gives you heartburn. Now maybe you have used or tasted Coffee made off of cheap machines. I have a good machine where you can actually taste the different flavors of different beans...

Epicenter is better term than focal point. Focal point refers more to visual.

I would think that epicenter would be the bed in the Master Bedroom...

Have you guys not heard the man's club rule?

I thought everyone knew this (or maybe it was just made up by me and my friends)

Always leave a closet unfinished.
-Leave it unfinished for years.
-It will become the lightning rod for complaints.
-It will cause a fixation on getting that closet finished (thus not leaving the mind free to think up other improvements.
-As soon as you finish that closet, if there is nothing else, you will either be asked to start the renovations all over again, or move to a new home (or maybe its just you that will be asked to move out now that your no longer needed :D

...I never should have finished that fireplace

Harsh posts Tabs. Though I agree with your comments about the cooktop and beer taps, I have yet to see you post a DIY project that ambitious or well done. Smoking pork for 20 hrs, dead man shoes, dragon jeans, or the fancy Solvang built espresso machine won't cut the mustard here. :)

Nice work Matt. I did a complete kitchen remodel the last few years as well. Totally different style than yours, think more Mexican hacienda with Santa Barbara colors, but no more work that you invested. I raise a beer to you!

onewhippedpuppy 07-17-2017 04:02 AM

I'll make sure I post about my dragon jeans and shoe collection soon.:)

As for done, it's correct that you are never done. Maybe I should have said done with big projects. After I get the RX7 back together I have at least one room to paint and and back yard landscaping to complete. On the upside, the boss helps me every step of the way, so I can't complain too much. Misery loves company!

Matt..kitchen looks awesome. really awesome!

my kitchen is "okay", but a 65 year old lady did it..i need to update it. i want my kitchen bright. thinking subway tiles and light colored..shaker style cabinets..

and Matt..ignore Tabs. i've gotten to the point in my life that i dont pay attention to people ALWAYS hawking their opinions and putting them above others.. i subscribe to..there is an ass for everyseat.

there is an old Korean saying that describes Tabs..
"a jar full of pennies, makes more noise than a jar full of dollar bills" (adapted to English..since is dont know wtf, korean currency is called)

berettafan 07-17-2017 09:17 AM

This is considered a beautiful kitchen in Northern Europe.. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...628640e5d1.jpg

^ looks like a museum IMO. My Dutch relatives would love it.

Here is what I started with - just after the demo. I hired that work out.

We went for color :) I did all the design, cabinets, island, flooring, and tile/stone. The wood island top was of course a custom piece that was also outsourced.

Middle of the far wall. It's induction so the top is black glass and as flat as the counter, so it's hard to see. Some elect to install gas but it's pretty rare as it's cheaper to cook with electricity.
