Petty, Orbison, Harrison...

The Traveling Wilburys are slowly reforming for a command performance

Three old dudes who remembered American Girl when released, paying homage. Was pretty cool. Almost like a moment of silence.

RIP, Tom Petty.

It's sad that such a great American artist, (and super nice guy by all accounts), is gone but it's important to remember that when I was a kid 50 years ago, a lot of people smoked and ate bacon every day, were 50 lbs. overweight, etc. and people died of old age @ 65.

Not judging Tom at all, (especially since I smoked for ages), but he lived how he wanted to and knew that he risked not seeing old age. One of my dad's best friends once said,

"If you're lucky, you die of a heart attack. If you're not lucky, it's cancer."

And his Dad gave good fishing advice.
I DVR'ed a concert from Gatorville/Gainsville?

I saw him at the Whisky back when their first album came out... didn't know who he was but was a huge fan from that day on.

Saw a couple of older interviews with Tom...

Just seemed like a really cool, down to earth guy who managed the "rock star" role humbly.

A couple of highlights imo. I always knew he collected guitars....one was in his man cave...guy said he counted 149 axes....Tom just let out an honest laugh...."Yeah...and you only need one "

He didn't like the frontman, singer role either...but that was what his band needed at that moment....he was just another member of a well oiled music machine that stuck together for decades...Tom said he could never have done the solo thingy....he was a team player with all of them being integral, and truly a band of brothers.
