I *hate* to say it but the new show is good. Ant is just as good as Edd.. My wife caught me watching and asked "Where's the funny tall guy ?"... I don't see how they've "cut" the mechanical content in the new show - it's pretty good and even more explanatory so far...
I hope Edd china gets his own show elsewhere, but in fairness the new show is just as good so far... And I'm no fan of brewer... |

You guys all know that EVERYTHING on tv is made up, scripted, done for advertising dollars, bs, right?
![]() It's a show about cars, like it or hate it, it is still better than most other crap on tv. Does anyone really think a show with no drama that did stock restorations would have enough viewers to last more than one week? Enjoy it for what it is. |

The new show is fine...
My suspicion is they will avoid deep restorations, like some of the frame off stuff they did on the TVR. My suspicion is, they will do a good job, on cars that need little, and can be filmed in a day or two... On the supra, that whole episode could have been filmed in one day... |

I enjoyed the Saab 96 episode. Cool rare car probably wasn't easy to source the parts for it.
Honestly so far I don't see much difference from the old show except Ant instead of Edd. I do agree Edd was better.

Show is still good no falloff from Edd. I feel the purchase takes too long but that is all Mike's air time for the most part.....

I feel like such a nerd for talking about car tv show!
![]() I used to like the segment comparing a nice version of the car they were doing. Why is it interesting, rare, appealing... it was cool to see a car I wasnt familiar with or a job I didnt know about. I really liked how Edd broke down a task, explained tool/equipment or even a DIY hack that was new to me. I learned stuff and was entertained. Now, you come back from a commercial and there is a roof rack, or an interior, or the suspension is done. I'm not really interested an most of the cars lately, maybe thats my gripe. But I guess I'm in the minority, its a car show. I should be in the shop working on my stuff, not sitting on the couch. |

I thought everything Ant did on that van could have taken up two shows.
There was ALOT that wasn't covered. The roof rack for example. I can see why Ed left. The main theme of the show has changed. It is still better than the majority out there. |

I dont dislike Ant, its just not much actual work being shown. Also, the van this week was poorly done. He is shown fitting up a new crossmember. Then later he is scabbing in some gussets to make it actually fit with no explanation of why it was done wrong in the first place.

It's already noticeable that the producers have trimmed the mechanical content of the show and probably the producers have read the online content that the fans have said about the loss of that content. They probably will trim it further as the shows progress to the point where you have a 1/2 hr show about Mike screwing someone over on a car and then flipping it to someone else. Just think a whole half hour of seeing Mike rub his hands together...........

Ant is clearly just as talented as Ed. My only beef with the show so far is I've been less interested in the cars they picked... But yesterday's episode was quite cool despite my lack of interest in the dodge van, great fabrication... I kinda feel sorry for Ed now, the show is still decent - I hope he gets another gig !

^^ The show is only (somewhat) decent because of the controversy of Edd leaving. The producers did a re-think.
Still too much Mike and not enough European cars - one of the main reasons I tuned in originally.

My teenage daughter saw a commercial for WD. She asked if Eds got a haircut. I told her it's a new guy, Ant.
She said, "it's not Wheeler Dealers then". From the mouths of babes... |

The show should just get rid of Mike, and the buying and selling of the cars... Pointless. We get it. You sell every car at a loss but pretend it was a profit.
We all watch the show to see old classics fixed up... Lately I have been cruising Youtube, and there are TONS of amateur videos of folks fixing up cars. Search for HOOVIES GARAGE. Its a 30 something year old car dealer repairing old exotics. Shows a Porsche 911 v8 conversion, AMG Mercedes repairs, etc. Really entertaining. There is this guy Tarek (Taresh?) fixing a beater Mitsubishi vr1000 something or other, fixing old japanese cars, etc. All shot in the first person, but really entertaining... |
