Breeze - her time has come
Over two years ago I posted a thread about Breeze, a dog our extended family rescued. The vet gave her six moths to a year to live back in June 2015. My grandson and his mom gave her all the love and attention she needed to make it almost to her 3rd birthday. Sadly, her heart is giving out and her lungs are filling with fluid and she is struggling to breath. The vet can't do anything for her except help her over the Rainbow Bridge. My grandson is devastated, but I am so proud of him for caring for her so well all this time.

Sad to hear. I'm glad Breeze got the best possible life she could. Your DIL is a special one!

Rest in peace Breeze. Thanks to your DIL, you and your family for giving her a lovey home when you rescued her. I'm sorry for your loss.

I hate reading these threads - they're always a reminder of how short a time we get with the best companions we'll ever have (our pets). I fear that because they live shorter lives than we do, it means we see them come and go often and we might become desensitized to it. I hope I never do. They all deserve to be in our memories for however short a time we got with them.
She had a great life. We should all be so lucky. Best to you and sorry to hear of your loss.

You gave her a good life while you could. Take some comfort in that.

"It is heartbreaking to know this sweet, loving little dog has such a short life expectancy. Between DIL, my wife, and I we are committed to making sure her time here is as happy and filled with love as we can make it." (from the "meet Breeze" thread)
You have done what you started out to do. Without the love and care you provided she would not have lived so long. RIP Breeze, you sweet little lady.

Darn, Patrick, I'm very sorry to hear this. Breeze was a lucky dog - you folks gave her the best few years she could have hoped for. RIP, Breeze...

Bingo. The real sadness is in all those lovely animals who never knew loving care. Neuter your pets, folks! If you're looking for a pet, spring someone on death row for the crime of having been born.

Nothing more rewarding than caring for a pup but absolutely heartbreaking when they have to leave. Love is the critical ingredient.

Thank you everyone. Sad day here. Over the years Breeze adopted my 11 year old grandson as her best human. He took care of her and learned about responsibility - and the love of a good dog. They adored each other. He is learning hard lessons about the way life is and he is heartbroken.
